I have no sympathy for Indian Americans who voted for Trump.

 

I honestly wish some of the Indian Americans especially Hindus and Christians gets deported to El Salvador prison for a month by mistake even if they hold the citizenship or green card. At least then, they will realise what they have done by supporting Trump.

With these tariffs, inflation will rise in US as most got countries got the tariff which will be paid by people of USA.  Like Indians pay if they any imported US items like recent Tesla car which cost 31 lacs in USA and 62 lacs in India ex-showroom because of 100% import duty. Who is paying that duty to the govt, not Tesla but the Indian who is buying the Tesla car. Same way, US citizens will be paying the tariffs whether 15-20-25-30%.

Idea is to promote local products. Like Indian made cars over Tesla. That won't impact overall inflation unless they are essential goods

Its coming. Retailers probably held out for Trump to make those deals, & not draw his ire. But looking at the kind of lousy deals he has made, from the prespective of importers they will pass on the impact. Producing in US currently isn't feasible for lot of products, if if feasible isn't cost effective. The producer will price the product comparable to the imported good, so pricies are going to rise.
