Not if those “C suite” positions are having a green card. No CEO / upper management in their right mind is still having a temporary visa.

For some reason have seen people continue on GC despite being eligible for citizenship.

So you want to kick the ladder of your own people so that you alone can benefit? This is not a great darwinian strategy and the reason why we become easy targets to every other group.

No read what you wrote above and what I did.

Many of us here know someone or we have extended family members who are applying to enter U.S and there are ma y who are already waiting to get GC from last 15 years sitting here. If I were to pick one side, I sure hope those peoole who have paid taxes for 15 years in a row, lived legally and see US as their homec get their greencard sooner than someone who comes on H1b now and marries an NRI girl and gets greencard in 6 months.

I know many peoole who haven’t returned back to meet their parents ts because they are waiting for their greencard to come for years and its too risky to travel for them.

Less petitions from India for now will hopefully help us clear the log and help fellow Indians who have been waiting for years to get greencard and waitingnto meet their families their greencard in India and travel to India.

And then once the backlog starts clearing, h1b wil be back to normal in few years and will be open again with lesser fee.

I think you are stuck on regulatory side of things. Let's see how it goes.

But my sense is that US as land of opportunities and rule of law with all its hypocrisies is done. It's a sentiment game now. And sentiment among the fringe right who are the loudest is anti Indian at this point. They don't give a fck about GC. Of they didn't care about Ramaswamy or Sriram's citizenship, why will they be quiet about GC holders.

Anyway. It's coming. Smart ones will start hedging their bets. Smarter ones already moved the eggs 2-3 years back.

Oh 100 percent - US being a land of no hypocrisies is a delusion of the highest order :hysterical:.

Also everyone needs a reality check. There’s literally no country (UK Aus etc) that does not have a bias against immigrants, especially those landing from Asia. Some may try to hide it but it will always exist. But at some point you gotta learn to not GAF and like u said “hedge your bets” that shields you from annoying everyday noise. Immigration is always a choice (unless you’re tortured) and the best treatment (subjective) will never be where u don’t come from.

Interesting. They will try to destabilize for sure. I was half expecting it but from Nitish.

Nitish is easier to flip... Even opposition can do it if they really try it.

Biggest hurdle was always CBN.

In any case it is a pressure point which Deep state can exploit to its advantage.  They have all kinds of leverage one can imagine both internally and externally.

That isn’t how any of it will work. Ppl lose jobs sometimes, if they did. Good luck finding a job in US with rules like this.

they won’t stop with this, they will start attacking ppl inside the country next.

Yes it will be a pattern but something what you expect from Trump government. Their whole campaign was anti-immigrant campaign and bringing jobs back to Americans. So that shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Jobs will be lost. I know what the feeling is like. People think that coming back to India from the US is a failure in life. I have been here 13 years now after living 13 yrs in the US. I have found growth and more happiness here than I did anytime in the US. The only thing I really miss from the US is the good roads.

I have family, friends and a lifestyle where I am not scared that a small health issue will bankrupt me. Even if I lose my job I know I can manage with the help of family and friends and start something on my own.

There will be a lot of tears but in the long run this is good for India.

That said, most ppl will be asked to work from home in India or near-shored to Mexico/Canada if they have to visit the US. The bottom tier of guys on bodyshop companies' payrolls will lose their jobs at the end of their H1B. No GC dream.

IMO, this is a policy that will hamstring the US a lot.

In the short term, they will be big losers - esp in the medicine and scientist categories. Universities and colleges will not be able to pay for these visas. These visas were previously exempt from the H1B caps. I wonder if there will be some kind of exemption made for this. Otherwise the US is going to face a huge health crisis due to a huge shortage of nurses and doctors esp in the rural areas.

A lot of small tech companies will offshore or look for freelancers online. All those celebrating that Americans will automatically get those jobs are hallucinating. Perhaps a few may, but in the medium term those jobs will depart to other countries. I think the UAE will benefit a lot - esp since companies are setting up their Global HQ there. IMO they will be the big winners in this whole thing. India will get some jobs and companies but until Hyderabad, Pune and esp Bangalore spruce up their cities and invest big in road and water and basic infra, we will not get much.

I see a lot of colleges in the US closing down in the mid-term. International arrivals are going to reduce big time. They are going to have real-estate crisis for sure. All those crowing today in the US are going to be crying foul very soon. the US is going to get cooked. They are insane if they think that the world will continue to subsidise their lifestyles perpetually. They don't understand how much of their economies were being propped up by international students - esp college towns.

I will toast to the US' downfall. Reading what a lot of ppl are spouting online will innure me to their downfall in the future. I know there will be a lot of hoo haa in India about the plight of these ppl but this is out of the Indian govt's hands. If we were smart we would make it ridiculously easy to start businesses in India and get a lot of returnees to use their money to start something here - esp if it is research based. But of course we have bigger issues such as caste and reservations and muslim appeasement to do so I doubt any of the states will do anythign other than abuse our foreign policy for this (as if we could do anything about this).

Well your point was this will make things easy of Indians in backlog. Well it won’t, the whole point of implementing the way they did is, it is much easier to stand up in the courts.

life just got harder for folks in the backlog, if holding on to a job was important in the economy it became even more important now. They are now  effectively under a travel ban.

with the pace AI is coming up. In a few years they won’t need to open up h1 as you predicted, it will only become more restrictive.

No it won’t makenit easy but it will help clear backlog at some point when there is less backlog. When backlogs keep piling uo which is the case currently, there is no jusicial change to improve it and people suffer for 15-17 years. Also if other categories are less crowded often they could allow more in other categories. However, this is never valid for India H1b because we have always been backlogged.

That is the reasonw e have separate category and most other countires come in ROW.

Reduces numbers will help down the line at some point, not right away.

Also, most h1b’s waiting for GC for over 15 years are well settled and rather have greencard so they can quit and travel freelly and find the work which they like. They rather flip burgers at mcdonald than stay with same employer currently. They need basic work only now.  Many need break from work etc because they have been working non stop too since college. They have put themselves financially in good position all these years just not have obtained greencard yet.

I am so happy for this H-1B rule. The innate enterprising spirit of telugus has been compromised by this idiotic H1B. Now they will return and start a new journey. Huge plus for the country as a whole.

Mudi must welcome all these returnees.

They will look for different countries likely.

I do feel its also too early to talk. Knowing Trump’s record, he backtracks with what he says. He gets lot of donation from big tech companies as well. So let’s see how it goes down with them and if rule changes again after 3 months.
