G_B_ Posted January 18 Posted January 18 The truth is that financial markets seem to be ok with the usa running massive deficits but not other countries. There is no point in a signature campaign supporting jay powell if trump does not face financial reckoning. These large deficits drive the usa military industrial complex.
G_B_ Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Spoke to my friend in british civil service and there is complete and total panic over greenland. They fear faroe islands will be next. ravishingravi 1

Above Chart only shows short term interest of buyers in US T Bond. Long term T Bonds are at risk as there are less and less buyers. Before Trump attacked Venezuela, He was talking about Drugs and very next day discussion shifted to Oil. ie Drug was noise,Oil and China was true reason. I think Greenland also has a economic angle too. US Fiat Currency dollar needs a asset to back $10 Trillion USD 30 Year T Bond which are about to mature in coming days. I suspect game is all around that. Rest all is just noise Edited January 19 by mishra

MK55 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 A substantive Tariff retaliation (not just some noise) will kill EU economy and will also hurt the US markets. So I don’t expect that to prolong. Militarily no one can compete. But if he actually goes on with a strike, 2 things are most likely to happen: 1: Major market opportunity to capitalize after playing out the vol and drop 2: Impeachment

MK55 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 (edited) The biggest thing I’ll be worried of is anything that suppresses consumption - that’s the only bulwark. If for example credit card companies stop offering credit to non prime or reduce utilizations due to unsustainable APR, things can go out of hand quickly and cascade. And if markets decline meaningfully (won’t happen unless consumption hits or AI hyper scalers miss targets significantly), this will affect discretionary spending too and then it’s a problem. Add inflation on top of it (if monetary policy makers r not prudent) - then big problem. But it’s a team so I don’t expect stupid decisions despite the outside noise over here. Job opening numbers r not great. AI productivity argument does not hold this early besides the tech. Participation rate effects r artificially stabilizing the unemployment rate by a little. So policy makers gotta be careful and not take things for granted Edited January 19 by MK55
SinNombre Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Chaos is opportunity and I hope Modi and co are not sleeping on the wheel. This is our best opportunity to get a favorable trade deal with the EU. ravishingravi 1

Which world leader will broach sensitive topic to him in texts now considering trump can embarrass them in minutes by posting a screenshot? diplomats are usually supposed to have expertise in the country they are stationed, provide expert advise of how to react based on situation. Trump doesn’t believe in such things, because he considers him to be a expert in all things. MAGAtards defending this as transparency were the same ones defending trump confiscating translator notes when he spoke with Putin, in his first term, & refusing to share with his own admin on what transpired.
