When has rupee not fallen? when has petrol prices not increased? Only thing is ethanol E20 which also would have been fine if they were not in such a hurry to implement it when target was till 2030, they did it in 2025. They should have given it more time, should have let it E10 till 2030. By that time, lot of E20 compatible vehicles would have been running on the road. Ethanol is more expensive than petrol but it only has 5% GST. No excise duty or vat.

but these guys were saying at 50 or 60, rupee kabre mein hai. to 90 pe to kabr ke aur andar chale gaya hoga

Next is e 27.

Anyways I think you are saying all is good. It has to get even worse before your barrier of a screw up is breached

what you guys are saying is that this govt is doing nothing wrong with petrol, ethanol, falling rupee, match etc etc. And these things need to get worse before you guys will accept there is a screw up?

There is no screw up.

SnP have upgraded Indias sov rating. This itself highlights how prudent Gov has been fiscally.

Are SnP morons to ignore a falling rupee?

You need to educate yourself on basic economics or you are parroting from some indi alliance toolkit

EU is buying refined Russian oil indirectly from India.  Without India buying Russia oil, crude oil prices would have skyrocketed by now. World should thank India to keep crude oil prices in check.

No country with self dignity in the world aligns with US currently but due to their security concerns these countries can’t defy openly but see India as their voice.

Yes we can stop after US, China and EU stop buying.

Not as easy as it sounds, where is the spare capacity to replace Russian oil?

by targeting India and asking only India to not buy Russia oil, only India needs to find 40% of our consumption from a costly source. America & their GCC friends enjoy selling their high priced oil to US.

that deal isn’t going to work.

I’m not saying it’s economically correct to stop buying.

The fact is if we don’t, we are gonna face increasing sanctions whether we like it or not or whether it’s justified or not.

Let the prices rise, and then the other parties will come to their senses collectively.

Also I’m not sure how true this statement is.

“Bessent told CNBC in an interview that Russian oil now accounted for 42% of India's total oil purchases, up from under 1% before the war, and contrasted that with longtime buyer China, whose Russian oil purchases had increased to 16% from 13%.”

Why have only our purchases increased?  I’m unfamiliar with the dynamics of the oil n gas markets.

This is how they are using stats without context to spread their proaganda.

1. Inaccrurate stats: His stats are innacrurate or atleast old.

Quote

In 2024 China continued to increase its crude oil imports from Russia, which accounted for 21.5% of China’s total crude imports, up from an average of about 15.5% in 2018-21

https://www.eiu.com/n/the-economics-behind-chinas-russian-oil-imports/

2. Traditional Indian suppliers now have more customers: before the war much of europe was butying oil from russia, china was also buying from russia. Now EU started ted to switch their source to traditional Indian suppliers which meant prices went up. Buying power of Indians aren't same as EU to be able to accomadate the price increase.

3. China's benifit & duplicity is being underplayed: China didn't just profit from the 6% (from 15 to 21), it got the benfifit from the entire 21 as all of it got cheaper. The focus on the rise of India's % vs china is to obfuscate this fact. And make it seem like China isn't making most out of this situation.

ANOTHER HIDDEN FACT, China through Malaysia is circumventing sanctions & buying much cheaper Iranian oil (10-15$ cheaper vs 5-10$ cheaper w/ russian), this accounts to 13% of China's oil imports! India which has no probelm with Iran doesn't buy this because of the Sanctions.

4. So if US doesn't want India to buy Russian Oil, why doesn't it sanction it like Iran? Blocking only India from Russian oil punishes only Indian economy while letting others profit!

India can't buy from Iran, Venezuela counries we have no problem with, now they have added Russia too. While they let China buy from russia & Iran w/o broad scale penalites like those levied on India then sell the churan we are stratergic partners.

5. Create extra capacity to absorb the Indian demand, without that it is an antempt to punish India for someone else's problems.

They are literally defending the most absurd attack on Indian sovereignty. Until today I used to look at accusations of coordination with foreign govts & opposition as some conspiracy theory that might not be true.

but boy was I wrong…

Wonder what they are talking. Only thing common and funny could be Trump.

Putin: Trump begged for meeting with me since the day he got elected. 20 envoys 300 phone call requests and 10% tarriffs which he has put on best buddy UK. Only then I went to Alaska.

Xi: I have told my secretary to tell Trump I am busy in me Garden. If he needs anything, Speak to foreign office. But he keeps calling everday. ANd she has repeated same excuse 1000s time. Some time we put the phone up just to make sure it gives a busy dial tone to Trump

Modi: Trump called me while I was on plane. Jaishankar told him that I was asleep. Then he made Zelensky to call me. Immediately afterwards he called me again and told Jaishankar, that Zelensky said to him Modi is awake. But Jaishankar told him again that I am asleep
