Just make an agreement that trump won’t tweet stuff we don’t both agree to & just make a call. He just badly wants a call.

He’s playing both good cop and bad cop , on odd and even days

Has to be some Wall street insider who has mellowed Trump somewhat..  Trump was probably about to undertake a stupid move but folks in that Big tech meet yesterday knocked some sense back

It was bound to happen, pressure aas surmounting on Trump, which eventually would have impacted Republicans.

While Trump may not be there, others like Vance and co are eyeing the POTUS position.. Trump's unhinged attitude can shatter that dream.

So as per FT

Japan has 45 days to invest 550 billion usd or tarriffs will rise from 15% to 27.5% (with a threat of more). An American committee will decide where money is "invested".

This "deal" they have is worse than the tarriffs. This also ignores the fact that usa wants Japan to buy lots of expensive military hardware.

@IndianRenegade you keep mentioning a MEA failure. Is ths above what success looks like?

In the comments of the FT most Europeans are calling this a very bad deal for Japan.

This is where MEA & Modi screwed up big time.

No one is going to vote in 2029 on the question of how Op Sindhoor ceasefire came about but if the economy is bad or doesn't live up the hype then that is problematic, with important trade deal & defense deals going on, the best thing to do was flatter trump without accepting mediation, say stuff like Trump facilitation along with indian strikes had a great effect on Pakistan to realize their position, make a backdoor deal with him for nobel peace prize nomination for Ukr-Russia effort.

if that is a bridge too far Indian should at least kept quite over Trumps claims, the readout of Modi's call with Trump was unecessarly stupid.

How did the relationship that was pushing for F35s, a Modi visit to US, Vance visit to India deteriorate to this level? I don't believe its the Russian oil that India has been buying for 3 yrs, that was just discovered by US a month ago. The trade deal with an extortionist trump was already going to be difficult, Indian Babus & modi decided to make it harder by personally insulting Trump by calling out his lie. Nobody apparently taught our Babu's to bide their time except when they delay projects to get their cuts.

Indian Opposition played a key role as well, Congress and their puppets did everything to insult and provoke India..govt didn't paid much attention to Trump's claim...but RaGa and other anti national leaders took it on the Indian media, insulting Modi and BJP.

BJP, cant afford to take these insults lightly, as thwy have a direct impact on elections. Hence they too had to speak up.

There are 2 games playing right now..both externally and internally...and Internal politics comes first, cause if the govt isnt in power, they cant do anything.

So much volatility..

That's why we are lucky that he is our PM at this moment. At this moment we need a Dhoni not Kohli. Modi g is ice cold as it gets. Not always good but in this situation it is gold. Intense squeeze but you have to hold your own.

Off ramp has been given to Taco.  Modi G quoted directly from ANI not from Trump's original statement.

Modi g took a pragmatic call, not emotional One keeping ego aside.

I wonder how he will play going forward. Who are we more dependent on ? US or China. I dare say it's China. US can hurt us. China can kill us. Access to oil and rare earth will drive our growth engine. If US isn't giving technology, there is nothing here we can't do without. They know that further they squeeze us we go into the other corner. In the long run Eurasia is gateway to India's future. Not the west.
