I know KUldeep is down the pecking order. But Kuldeep has incredible record at Dubai 6 matches 10 wickets 23.70 avge 4.08 ER. Bumrah's partners have to be carefully picked. Ideally guy like Bhuvi is very much suitable here as Shami's fitness will be a big question mark. Hope they don't back Siraj. That guy can loose the match. He can't bat. Anotehr one we can try is Reddy

Why not have likes of Axar, Riyan Parag, Reddy, Rinku, Pandya who can get in 20-25 overs in and maybe more if one of them has a good day. This way we don't need to play more than 3 full time bowlers and have batting depth till 8. This is what we should go for - multi-dimensional players rather than 5 bowlers, 6 batsmen approach which hasn't delivered anything for us.

Yup there should be batting till 8.

No Siraj. He isn't a white-ball bowler. I would rather go with Mukesh or Harshit. Arshdeep hasn't been great in ODIs as well. I would go with 2 full time pacers in Bumrah and Mukesh/Harshit, one specialist spinner in Varun C (he's been top of his form recently) and then have Pandya and Nitish as 2 all-round pacers, and Axar, Rinku, Riyan as the spn all-rounders.

 

Jaiswal and Gill to be the only 2 specialist bats with one of Pant/Samson/KL as the wkt keeper batsman. This would require us to kick out Rohit and Kohli but this team would bat deep and replicate our T20 team's success with batting till 8 and plenty of bowling options.

We've batting till 8 (Axar) with Akash Deep coming in at 9 who can slog as well. We've 4 pace bowling options in Bumrah, Akash Deep (or Mukesh, Harshit), Pandya and Nitish. We've 4 spin options in Varun C, Axar, Riyan Parag (who looked pretty good in SL) and Rinku.

 

Essentially 8 bowling options and batting till 8. Selectors have to start moving on from Rohit & Kohli.

I don't think we should take Bumrah everywhere. If he lasts 5 tests here in Australia, give him a break instead of playing every mediocre trophy.

Let Arshdeep, Siraj & Shami lead the bowling.

 

Bumrah is 31, he may be at his peak for next 3-4 years before injuries and age starts taking their toll. Let him rest here and focus for next Test series, IPL too will start from March end and we know MI will milk him for every goddamn game.

You gotta  point. Jaddu is a clutch in Tests. Axar is a clutch in LOIs as well. Yea bowling is not quiet the same. He can leak runs like he did in the final. But in one dayers you can hide his overs in the middle

Even Jadeja gets hit in LOIs if it isn't turning. Plus Axar is just a better big hitter. Jadeja's nurdle style is good for tests.

I think we have to shore up our bowling resources to compensate for the pathetic batting line up. Jaiswaly by now should be playing ODIs.

KL won't be picked. Hopefully. They don't have to show loyalty to Rahul based on his Test performance.

Need Shami to be fully fit..Atshdeep has been good in T20s and has death bowling temperament but 10 overs its difficcult for him to maintain intensity..he will mostly float the ball..

Mayank has been accurate but fitness for lasting 10 overs is concern..

Perhps..if Umran comes back with improved accuracy??..he could provide some good penetration in the middle if he still bowls with express pace..
