There is a difference in Jaiswal failing once in a while and RoKo and Gill failing everytime in overseas conditions. Don't equate the two 

 

Batsmen arent better than allrounders with bat just coz they are proper bats. They need to be scoring runs.

 

if Tanush Kotian indeed shows better technique and raises hope of runs more than RoKo, why not?

He should've clarified that Gill couldn't get into the team as there're only 9 spots. 2 spots are off limits for non-performing seniors.

In fact I would go with Kotian or anyone else for that matter ahead of Kohli and Rohit. These guys average 3 and 5 in the 1st innings of a Test over the last 6 Tests. Surely Kotian or anyone else can beat these numbers. Our batting is a 3 man show at the moment - Jaiswal, Rahul and Pant with support from lower order and all-rounders.

And that "somehow" is why we're a 9 man team. When you average 3 and 5 in 1st innings of a Test for 6 Tests and have been failing for 5+ years and yet make the team, it makes it a 9 man team effectively. Think of those 2 spots as "nomination" spots where you're simply nominated to be in the team like Board of Directors and don't have to perform to get in. Performance is left for the other 9 players.

This series should be a case study in management schools on how adding non-deserving members or a non-deserving leader can totally ruin a team. The team looked so different in the first team and look at the team since then. Totally unrecognizable.

 

We saw the same thing when we faced England at home and when we played NZ at home with non-deserving players back.

That's not true. He got out in single digits only last test. He has looked in good to decent form throughout the year.

One can criticize his batting but this is poor selection despite everything. We were believed to be in a transition phase and the previous two managements had been investing in him, how do you even justify this selection? This is incoherent with what we were trying to do.

most selections and captaincy in BGT have been asinine. Ditto for Ind-NZ series.
