So true bro. When Anand lost the match in 2013, he came back in 2014 after winning the candidates. It takes alot of character, which Magnus has doesn't shown.

 

You want to see greater hypocrisy ?  Carlsen said he will not face Anand after going through the candidates and deliberately skipped the 2012 candidates because he felt the world champion should not have it easy while the contenders fight it out to play him. Carlsen skipped, Gelfand won and faced Anand in 2012.

 

Carlsen then played 2013 candidates after realizing he cant fight the system. Then 4 times he was okay others fighting to face him while he defended the World champion crown.

 

He may be a genius on the board but have never liked him as a person.   

 

Not one soul in serious chess has anything but massive praise for Anand  - he is truly a legend.

Carlsen has deep seated fear of losing. That's why he didn't play 2012 candidates, format excuse, champion's privilege etc don't cut it. Winning candidates is sometimes even tougher than winning the crown. 

 

Even in 2013 candidates, luck favored him over Kramnik. Most unconvincing candidates victory I can remember. 

 

He left his world championship title precisely because of fear of losing, indirectly even he has admitted to that....barely won against Karjakin/Caruana and with time, it was only going to get tougher.

 

Here he was struggling in rapid and created this drama as a deflection. Naive people falling for his tricks.

Volodar, the 18yo guy who became rapid world champion is only abt 2660 in classical, not even 2700. This is the worst thing that could happen to magnus. He undermines World championship system suggesting it should be called classical world champion, because he happens to be very very good in faster time control. If higher classical rated hikaru, nepo or grischuk had won, it would happen been ok. But a relative nobody in classical chess has won world rapid. It damages magnus' aura.

Volodar in this form could have torn Marnie a new one. Marnie probably realized it, and thus cooked up the drama to run away against the prospect of facing up to Russo-Indian supremacy @Gollum
