FIDE is not kind to Magnus promoting FreeStyle chess. There's a silent war going between FIDE and Magnus for quite some time.

 

All the Magnus meatriders were jizzing their pants about him usurping the FIDE power by using his biggest supporter Chess.com and corporate sponsors. Is he really that powerful that he could take on FIDE without the support from country level chess federations and associations.

 

Many players like Kasparov tried this before without much success. @Gollum your thoughts on this?

Bit harsh from fide...but really it's the arbitrators call... nothing can be done after that.

 

Imagine being the greatest of all time, having to go outside playing arena to your hotel to change pants inbetween rounds.  It is embarassing. One can understand where magnus is coming from.

This isn't much to do with clothing. Carlsen for a while has been on the edge, wanting to pick a fight with FIDE and break away like Kasparov did with PCA in 1993, something which put chess world in turmoil for a good 15 odd years. Check recent developments about parallel world championship in freestyle chess and Carlsen's Saudi connection. Chess.com, a few billionaires from Gulf, Germany, Norway may back him but whatever they come up with will hardly benefit 20-30 players, not the chess world at large. Just plain old greed. Moreover many of those backers will soon realize that there are other games more lucrative than chess (even e-sports can make more money, forget poker) and pull the plug, totally unsustainable without FIDE support. 

 

Gukesh's recent win, our Olympiad rampage, rise of youngsters, has also rattled some of these guys. Anyway let them do what they wish, future of chess lies East, especially in India. Mahindra group has gotten involved, also Adani, Ambani and other big tycoons will splurge money in near future looking at growing craze and our success. 10 years later, grumpy old Carlsen and his sidekicks will beg, crawl and come to us with mercy petitions as we take over FIDE.

Removing his congratulatory post for Gukesh, this controversy, threats of breaking away from FIDE, man Gukesh has really rattled big boy Carlsen this month. 

 

Ding anyway he probably didn't consider as a real champion. But to see an 18 year old kid winning the crown after a GOAT Olympiad performance, insecurity is also at play.

He may be BOAT, but no GOAT. Cowards shouldn't be in GOAT conversation. All fun and games when he had to play Anand 22 years his senior. But ran away like a coward unwilling to take on players 10 years younger than him. Lacks character.

Had a horror day tied on 83rd position, no chance of medal, looks more like a face saving exercise. Carlsen has the emotional maturity of a 6 year old.

Kramnik is the most deranged no doubt but former two have resorted to plenty of bullying. Will have lots of negative effect on youngsters who are on the receiving end.

Didn't Hans admit to cheating elsewhere and chess.com also banned him?

That was in his younger years, in an online event on chess.com when he was a kid (11 or 12 years old). 

 

More such GMs have used engine at some point in online chess (difficult to police), but kids are forgiven. eg. Raunak Sadhwani.
