Is akashdeep worst pacer to play for india in tests since 2000

If a pacer plays 3 tests in a 5 match SENA tour, he will obviously bowl well in one match.  Whats the big deal?  Even Prasidh has a 5fer in 1st inning of this test.  It doesn't make him a great bowler.  Same with Akashdeep.  If Indian fans are happy with 1-3 loss in every SENA tour, there is no point in discussing all this.

I read on cricinfo ( sid monga article i guess ) that Jaiswal (with help of RR management) had to go through extensive training and practice ( + mental toughness ) to overcome the negative effects of malnutiritious upbringing. I have no data but Akashdeep too might have same issues going by his background.. I have high sympathies for him but we cannot win test matches if the bowler is not 100% fit throughout the series.

Problems with Akashdeep run a lot deeper, I guess.   Coz he didn't play all 5 matches (unlike Siraj).   He played only 3 matches with sufficiently long break between his 2nd and 3rd test.  And in 2 of those matches, he looked like he wasn't 100% fit.    If a player breaks down after just 1 test (I am not even talking about a freak accidental injury which can strike anytime) , then I am sorry...i dont think any amount of grooming/conditioning can help.   We recently had a pacer in Navdeep Saini who broke down in every test after bowling 5 overs.  Akashdeep seems to be a slight upgrade over him.  (I am afraid)

@express bowling bro used to say he unfortunately got ill due to dengue  and recuperating but looks like the issue is actually with selectors who have no clue which bowler is international level and can last a series

Fitness issues likely.

However he can bat and should be backed alongside Harshit. That will allow us to play 4 pacers.

3 pacers is just too much workload

I always say you cannot win series in places like Aus, England, SA, NZ with just 3 pacers. Two Spinners are a luxury there, picked just to maintain overrates. Here two spinners are picked for their batting.

Yes they could have batted higher instead of Sai/Karun allowing extra pacer. Harshit was also needed
