The whole setup is institutionally designed to "play it safe" by continuing to pick the same names way past the time they have declined. None of the bcci netas and babus have any incentive to take risks with younger players.No one gets sacked for picking ROKO etc so let's just keep doing that till they themselves retire.

That's the approach that has brought us 1 trophy in the last 10+ years despite having the world's biggest pool of young players performing to a reasonable standard.

i am not kidding when i say , this is the worst team in the tournament,over the hill players,unfit players,players who have zero form,players who have not played ODIs for a long time.i will be beyond shocked if they make the semis

I think Siraj has had a very heavy workload so fair enough to give him a break. Not as if he is likely to set the world on fire in those conditions.

 

Looks like Jaiswal, Pant, Jadeja and Arshdeep will not be part of the core XI and will come in only if someone else drops out. Harshit  in case Bumrah doesn't recover.

Depressing about covers it. Rolling out the same squad who "play well but lose" consistently even though all players are a couple of years older than virtually the same squad played in 2023.

They were  saved  from the brink by Bumrah and a freak catch in the nick of time. Were also lucky to encounter SA who are ranked even higher in the bottlers hall of fame. Otherwise it was headed towards following the same script as every other competition of losng their nerve when it counts.

Lightning is not going to strike every time. WT20 was a fluke in a format that has a disproportionate share of freak results.
