Haven't been following it, but its all over my feed.

Magnus wins the Grenke freestyle event with a perfect 9/9.

Only the second person (after Fischer) to do so.

Only one 2700+ opponent though.

In the modern era nothing comes close to Caruana's 2014 Sinquefield performance. 7/7 run against Carlsen, Aronian, Naka, Topalov, MVL.

2024 was Gukesh and Arjun's year.

This year will be all Pragg the way things are going. Playing so well in Bucharest.

Gukesh shouldn't be disheartened, dip after such a high is common only. He will bounce back soon, and then stabilize.

Gukesh has far more resilience and control over his emotions than the rest of our guys. He is still world #3 and the world champion.

So what dip are you referring to?

His performances since Wijk.

Follows up Wijk win with a win here in GCT, Bucharest classical. Elite field, apart from these 3 guys also had Caruana, Gukesh, Aronian, Nodirbek, Duda, So.

2 supertournament victories for Pragg in WC year. Let's go boy....world number 7 now and within striking range of number 3. This is his and Aravindh's year.

#3 Arjun

#5 Gukesh

#7 Pragg

#11 Aravindh Chithambaram (biggest gainer this year)

This can be a kickass world beating starting team in next year's Olympiad. With Vidit/Hari in reserves.

PS: Top 2 Carlsen, Naka have hardly played classical this year, this protected rankings crap should go. If you don't play you should lose points like in ICC ratings.

Chess is soon coming to television. Checkmate ventures is planning a bilateral series between India and the US.

“What makes this event different is its design: a high-stakes, fan-friendly and broadcast-ready showdown. Every game has a winner, with patriotism as a narrative. The atmosphere will be electric: national anthems, walkouts, crowd energy, and real-time graphics powered by tech. Its goal is to appeal to both casual and serious chess players. In short, it’s chess built for the spotlight,” he added.

Norway Chess is underway.

Gukesh lost his first game against Magnus, then lost of Arjun and won on the eve of his birthday against Hikaru.

Today, i.e. on his birthday, he is playing against Caruana. He's had Caruana's number since the Chennai Olympiad.

Gukesh lost his edge after winning the World Championship title. He has been losing games consistently.

Glad he won the game against Hikaru who has been calling him the weakest player to have won the championship.

Hope he wins the game against Caruana. If I remember correctly Gukesh never won a classical game against Arjun.

What a game against Caruana. Pawn down immaculate calculation by Gukesh to draw it. Wow

He actually won the game against Fabi. Thought he will lose the game after Fabi had a slight advantage.

^ my favourite chess YT channels.

I don’t like Levy or Hikaru much. C squared is very technical.

Used to like Samay Raina’s streams for the chess entertainment quotient.

Nigel Short used to stream. But he deleted his channel/twitter ID. No idea what happened there. :((

He was also very instructive and structured in his approach. And funny.

He always said the same unfunny joke

Short is tall (Tal) and Tal is short.

Gukesh is clearly not in the red hot form that he can be when the stakes are very high.

Hope he has got over the World Championship hangover on focussed on being more consistent and hungry to win super tournaments.

At half way stage - he is at the bottom of the points table - very uncharacteristic.
