NZ crowd should be allowed some sort of refund.  They hv already started leaving.  With 10 overs left.

All these games are double headers.

I see Shadab still bowling garbage.

What happened to guy that came out taking test wickets in England ?

Groin injury plus inclination towards t20s only.

T Seifert will easily walk into the playing11 of any IPL team.   Certainly not a hack.  A proper hard hitting batter.   Has a wide range of strokes.

most nz player are multi-skilled, they play a lot of t20 leagues. Only in IPL they find it hard to get contracts.

Guptill has scored the most runs amongst Kiwis in India and has got 31/143 T20I stats in India.

He's probably the best Kiwi T20 batter in Indian conditions .

Colin Munro would be second on that list

multiple reason for not so many ipl contract, Aus, Wi and Eng player are more valued and are better choices, plus nz players lack the star status

Source for other subcontinent team doing this? I have never heard about Indian players doing it, they are very conscious about their image.

There is nothing to be conscious about, players are cleb. they get free stuff from ppl. Do not have to pay and the ppl uses it status thing or promote there business using sm etc.

If my work is worth 200 rupees, I can’t charge 400 rupees. It doesn’t sit right with me. I usually just tell players to give me how much ever. Sometimes they forget to give but that’s fine,” he says matter of factly.

No, I agree with the gist of what @neel roy said.  NZ batters are generally not particularly good in Indian conditions .

Even the English are overrated, Buttler apart.

Aussies and Saffers are much better bets in Indian conditions.

Yes but when you have only 4 slots for overseas players you have to be so good that you kind of guarantee a walk in, in the top 2. Like david warner shane watson  mccullum or chris gayle or you are multi skilled.. most ipl teams have openers who have been Indians .. so to break in and play consistently at top order is difficult.. so franchises would rather take a kiwi bowler than a batsman.. tim seiffert plays pretty well

at home but he was unsold..

there are multiple reasons for nz player mot getting ipl contracts, but if they keep doing well in sc they will start getting them:

  • Not so good records in bi-laterals vs Ind in ind
  • Lack of star value
  • Ipl franchises think Aus, WI, Eng,SA batters are better choices
  • Apart from mccullum no nz player looks like they can be part of top leadership group
  • There are Aus, Eng player who get into ipl with 1 good knock or not even playing intnl cricket because they are seen as better talents
  • And if you see there is always some 1 better than nz player
  • Its a conception that nz player are v.good as a group, but individually not seen as that good/great.

Not disagreeing with that. Just saying Guptill was probably not the best example since he was actually good in these conditions even if he wasn't good enough to get that overseas slot.

Gaikwad should definitely play home tests. Far better than devdutt padikkal etc who have played for India. He has so much time

I think IPL has generated a lot of hate against him. Actually he is quiet a good player for longer format.

In recent time we have heard too much of tuk-tuk (playing dots) and tulley-baaz (slogging), in t20s which would you prefer. This is a genuine question.

Classic copy-book batting will not win many t20 games these days.  Most t20 pitches are flat as well

If conditions are tricky then those tuk tuk batters also have their value. Tulleybaaz can't bat at lower gear when needed. It is assumed that nowadays you have to keep going hard as no total is safe.

Most of them are in between. Abhishek, Samson, Tilak, Head cannot be classified as sloggers. They just use the crease to create their own line and length  and stroke the ball
