The movie on Kanhaiyya Lal murder by radical Islamic terrorists is delayed by the HC. The petition to ban the movie as it hurts Muslim sentiments is made by Jamaat-I-Ulema-Hind.

Kapil Sibal was hired by

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (represented by its President Maulana Arshad Madani) to represent them in their petition against the release of the film "Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder."

Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, seeking to prevent the release of the film, arguing that it could incite communal disharmony and negatively portray a specific community. Kapil Sibal, acting as their counsel, presented their arguments to the court, and following these proceedings, the Delhi High Court stayed the release of the film and directed the Central Government to review the matter.

Didn’t we have so many movies on Gujarat riots vilifying one community? So many anti-Hindu movies that many Bollywood writers like Salim-Javed made careers out of?

How about the argument that if you don’t like the movie, don’t watch it! In this case

No films should be banned. At best they should get appropriate certification.

Milords have free time to indulge in these cases despite huge backlogs

But that incident happened, video went viral. So how can it disturb communal harmony more than the gruesome act itself? Indian judiciary as usual wasting time on nonsense. Let the movie release.

oh btw, Punjab 95 also deserves a release, no double standards please.

I think they are worried about the film makers adding extra masala ("creative liberties") and making an already volatile situation even worse.

The film makers can play that card as they are making a film and not a documentary or investigative report.

Given powers they would have banned it in the news when the incident happened, as it would disturb communal harmony.

They can suggest cuts of those cinematic liberties. Why ban the entire release?  The judges have not seen the movie , to give this judgement!  When the lawyers asked them to see, they declined and asked them to show it to Kapil Sibal , the lawyer for the Muslim side

That is the domain of censor board, not milords. Instead of handling the 100 million pending cases, these cloaked jokers waste time on trivial matters like this.

Like Kerala Story, this movie will be banned by state govts like Bengal, TN, Kerala. KS exaggerated the numbers but from the looks of it, this movie doesn't deviate from what actually happened, more like Kashmir Files.

Bengal Files coming up next, that will address the important subject of eatern partition, actual history rarely touched by our movie industries. Direct Action Day, Noakhali, the Odia mill workers who were killed (casualties in thousands)....these topics have been deliberately ignored for so long. Bengali Muslims were the driving force behind creation of Pakistan (Gangetic heartland Muslims a distant second), not today's Pakistanis. Mamata will create ruckus over that for sure.

More than the movie, people should outrage against the NIA court, Ajit Doval , Amit Shah and NDA government for delaying justice to his family.  It’s been 3 years and courts are delaying and even gave bail to one the accused handlers of the terrorists. They couldn’t have killed without logistical support, information on his whereabouts etc. listened to one of the podcasts. Feel for his son who is fighting for justice.

Looks like a low budget movie from Trailers.  Vijay Raaz is a terrific actor though.

MIB ministry and Censor board is a joke at this point.  Most useless bunch of Babus freeloading on taxpayers money

They gave certifications for release, the delay is because of mi-lawdas, Jamaat-Ulema-i-Hind and the stupid judiciary system with Hindu judges and lawyers playing the useful idiots for the ummah

Game is probably much more deeper than that.  GoI perhaps doesn't wants to prop up Nupur Sharma fiasco again and deal with the sh*tstorm they nearly avoided.  Core concept of this movie singles out that particular moment looking at the trailer.

Conspiracy theory at best. you are like the saas jo har baat pe bahu ki saajish nikaal leti ho. People don’t remember Nupur except some RW people . Is that why they are delaying the conviction of the killers as well?

Idk entire thing was kept low key by establishment.  I am not aware of the current status of the case but specifically NS fiasco was very well done by everyone involved.  Raitas may cry all they want but GoI did the needful.

Back then even I criticised the move but I wasn't aware of ME pressure and specifically how strong Qatar lobby actually is.  It was handled expertly overall.

What is the fascination with beheadings? Stoning, beheading, etc. are barbaric acts fit for medieval times. Also why is a religion so touchy about its prophet? Is there an inferiority complex that fuels such vicious reaction? Devoted people of other religion may despise someone belittling their faith, but may not necessarily end in mayhem or murder. Although I must say Hindu extremists make me equally anxious (when I was growing up, anyone mocking Hindu gods would get a shake of the heads and move on. Gods are not suffering from complexes that any criticisms will demean their stature). However, I do agree there is no moral equivalency. It is noticeably worse on one side.

I do not condone Islamophobia. It is rampant and we see that more and more in the USA. These attitudes do not help mitigate it (although I do feel sympathy for the US muslims who are generally more tolerant and less extremist in their action, at least outwardly). People see these barbarians and lump every Muslim in that category, unfair or otherwise.
