Breaking test cricket into 2 levels

It is the most amazing sport /entertainment there is in world but only if England india australia play among themselves or maybe South Africa at times

How about we break test cricket into 2 groups

1. India

2. Australia

3. England

4. Best team of remaining teams to be decided by WTC like competition

So we have these 4 teams play as under

5 test series between India Australia England every year 1 at home 1 away and 3rd year 2 home 2 away and 1 neutral venue

3 test  series with the fourth country

This way big 3 play 13 test every year and give us this unbelievable entertainment

Remaining teams ( sa pak sl nz Wi )can play their 2 test crap to decide the fourth best team .Every year 4th team changes

Also invoke test status of Bangladesh Zimbabwe Afghanistan Ireland

Ind is yet to win a series in SA. This is all faux superiority talk. We get to play more tests because it brings in more revenue. We have been poor travellers and now apparently losing (whitewashed) at home too...

We have the best record away from home in the last 10 years.

If we are bad travelers, where does that leave the rest of the cricketing world.

Some of our fans need to stop this constant masochism.

How many series wins in SENA countries to show for and how many ICC test championships ?

Australia hasn't won series  in india and England for 20 years now

Away series are difficult especially among these 3 countries

Atleast india won twice in Australia

They are the reigning WTC champs, no?  If this 2-tier thing happens, they should be automatically in the top tier.

Not going on ranking but on performance and history . INDIA ENG AUS r proposed to be fixed in structure with 4th team changing every year

South Africa of today is average test team at best

If it was Sa of graeme smith they would be there as permanent fixture

I must disagree here. They just beat Australia in the WTC final didn't they? An objective measure, and certainly not an easy task.

More series wins in SENA than SENA countries in India.

Way more series draws in SENA than SENA countries in India.

What are you looking for? India to win 4-0 in Australia and England every time so that you can do balle balle.

Just 1 series win each in SENA countries in the last 2 test championship cycle...

ICC test championships started in 2021 when India's mainstays were already declining. India would have won in 2019 and/or 2017 when the core was at a peak.

And if you look at series wins in SENA countries can reverse it for the other teams too.

Aus hasn't won in Eng, Ind, SA in last decade.

Eng hasn't won in Ind, Aus (in fact hasn't even drawn) in last decade.

SA has one series win in Aus but then have lost another and have lost both their series in Eng/Ind in that period.

Ind has 2 series wins in Aus, 2 draws in Eng plus a draw in SA.

India in the last 7-8 years has won more overseas tests than I can remember starting from Gavaskar days!

Since 2018, 13 in SENA.

Plus ofc some WI/SL tests as well.

It's 0 in NZ. Hopefully that is rectified soon. I would be happy with 1-1.

We are the most successful team away from home in the last decade and this is without playing garbage teams like Pakistani, BD, Zim etc
