THey do well only on pitches which don't bounce much and ball come gun barrell straight.
Zero_Unit Posted September 2, 2025 Posted September 2, 2025 I dont' understand what pak is doing by dropping their best 2 players (pak standard). It's not like anyone is doing better than Babar and Rizwan. Y'all need to bring these two back to play some sort of competitive cricket. Like it or not, these two were your backbone of batting.

They are "revolutionizing" the team by picking players with intent. I understand the logic behind it. But you can't make a gold pot with clay. They have limitations. Occasionally they can fluke an innings here or there. They seem to have increased the depth. With this approach they hope atleast one or two will come good.

Afgn are the best spin bowling line-up with some distance. They may have scored their slowish 50s. Teams need proper hitters against afgn spinners whose mishits can clear the boundaries. Pak is following a good tactics bat deep and potentially they are asking their batters to maximize what ever ball they face, 15 ball 25-30 runs is a good return for them. When team do not have good t20 batters this is the only tactic they can follow. This will not work if a v.good bowling side gets a good total or if they are stacked against a v.good t20 batting side. Pak is for a tactician/ analyst who can maximize each and every batter and position Right now their bowling is not like what it was few years back. Other teams are just taking this bowling line up apart been seeing this since the last Asia cup. Now batting has to step-up and give them a above par score. This is where rizwan and babar failed they do not have the game even fr odis these day. even in Odis 320 is chase-able total its been 2 icc events we have seen that. Rizwan and Babar won't walk into many teams either. I think argument presented by pak fans is "Anyone other than these two are automatically infinitely better". That is nott rue. They are just as bad. Some even worse. WHen you try to overload your team with bits and pieces players who don't have the true capability of bits and pieces players (like livingstone, maxwell in prime) they will be exposed. They are ill equipped to handle many type of bowling. tapandrun and Zero_Unit 2

Do you need/prefer consistent but slowish accumulators or inconsistent but effective/impactful 25-35 runs. Some say that there is a middle solution to this have 1-2 accumulator and ask rest of the batter go from ball 1. Many teams (including Ind) have tried that and this does not work as well.

I don't think Pakistan has the required T20 skilled batters. Cup is barren. Having said that when did Pakistan ever have a dazzling batting line up in LOIs. May be when they had Anwar/Inzamam playing together at peak. They are trying to make something out of nothing. Tillu and tapandrun 2

Am not saying they would have but realistically speaking, Pak would have had the 'chance' to do much better with these two in the lineup - espacially Rizwan. Like you said, their bowling is lacking, also by dropping these 2, batting is lacking - one fluke here and there. This is not the way to make a team man. You don't drop experience for other nutbags with no experience, playing the same way, giving you even less wins. Afg might be the best spinning team, but don't forget, these guys even lost to BD not too long ago and their bowling is not really anything to highly speak off (though BD has been showing potential in T20 recently, while lacking in the other 2 format - that's another debate all together). It's like saying Am I in favor for droppping Rohit? 100%. But if we were in a situation like Pak where experience was lacking, I would have said let the fatman play. Sometimes experience is required - fatman will come off good in about 2-3/10 matches. Pak is heavily missing that experience. Edited September 3, 2025 by Zero_Unit

Sometimes experience is required - fatman will come off good in about 2-3/10 matches. Pak is heavily missing that experience. T20s are all about scoring runs fast. The situation Pak batting find themselves with Rizwan and baber is both are not capable hitters with sr of 120-130. And now other teams are striking at 145+ . So its not a situation where they are giving the team 15 more runs on an average with 10-15 sr slower. but there is a difference of around 20+sr between them and the opposition team. And they are already been found out and their scoring is not as consistent now because of this reason. Bringing in newer batters they are trying to bridge the gap between their sr and other teams' sr. Yes they do not have capable batters hence they are trying to bat as deep as possible. As mentioned above if some1 does not have a format specific batter this the tactics they should follow. Try to make something out of nothing-- as said by other poster. If there was similar situation and some1 like rothit was available its not a bad solution his sr is 140 and avg around 35 and a capable hitter so even with the best t20 batters in opposition teams you are losing only 10-15 sr point with an average of 5-7 more runs on average that is okay. Which was the case some 3-4 yrs back with pak team and plus their bowling was firing all cylinders. The issue with their current approach is it does not work while chasing and can not be long term solution. this is where an analyst /tactician comes into play how they maximize the resources The thing is this tactical approach has worked in the past as well, Ind 07 t20 wc, pak 09 wc. Rajasthan royals in 1st IPL, Csk in 1-2 ipls. The key is every batter tries to maximize what ever ball they face, bat as deep as possible. Yes this approach is not long term solution teams needs to find proper format specific player or they will be found out and other teams will exploit the weaknesses in the set-up Even pak's success in recent t20i wcs has been because of this small cameos here and there.Think it was asif ali in one wc and haris in other wc Edited September 3, 2025 by tapandrun

What I was trying to say is that why would they not try that approach with their 2 most experience batsmen while trying to find new talents - build in some sort of stability - with better skilled batsmen. By bringing in new guys who are worst than the ones that they dropped, gives pakistan no backbone in batting. That strategy can work with both Babar and Rizwan who are much better batsmen honestly. Find your lack of talent, and play them till you have a certain core group of players that are going to win you matches regularly. But dropping these two (who could also execute the same strategy) means experience is gone and new guys will lack international experience. But Pak wants to take new chances on new guys - which is a great thing - as long as they flourish instead of fading away. The dropping should have been done gradually, not just right off the bat. Think pak tm have tried all that in the past but nothing worked out. Both donot want to move out of opening slots in t20is and have openly came out said this in pcs. Both consumes most of the balls scoring at their own pace and then leave 5-10 balls for others to come out and hit from ball 1 which is not possible resulting in most of the batter becoming leg side slogger and trying to swing from the hip and hope some 1 will come good. None of these new players are not new they have been there playing here and there for pak some out of their original position to accommodate for babar and rizwan. Think only ayub and hasan are new in that regard. Heard at one time their domestic batters were asked to increase sr to 150s if they want to be in the team and hence no1 has any technique and every1 looks like just swinging the bat. More recently in the wc against Us both rizwan and babar didnt even came out to bat in the super over. In another t20i series vs Aus in aus in a shortened match chasing they sent Farhan to open and chase a steep total. and next game when there was modest target they came back to opening slot. Do not think TM can build a team around such players. Edited September 3, 2025 by tapandrun New guy and Zero_Unit 2
