What's the point of Gill in T20s???

Gambhir is backing the wrong horse. There is no harm putting your support behind a player you believe is a matchwinner. But it is quite clear, Gill is damaging team chances now to perform at optimum level in the upcoming world cup. There isn't any harm to swallow his pride & ego and bring in replacements. Its a sport and player do get in rut. Tough decisions need to be made. Time is running out.

Why is he vouching for his captain and vice captain lol

Aur kya kare bechara? He knows if he isn't on their good side, he would be the one kicked out of the team like Jaiswal or Samson instead of the two "seniors". Unfortunately in Indian cricket performance doesn't carry much weight.

I was concerned when he was given out on 0. The commentators would have called it another unlucky outing and that you cannot decide in one ball whether someone is in good form or not. He at least batted 28 balls to show how crappy he is in this format

And now they're saying he played a "match-winning" innings of 28 in a low scoring match

You can't win with morons.

Gill's PR has not fully evolved. They post the exact same message from 10 different accounts lol Atleast they should change the words, sentence structure. Clearly one firm is having about 100 plus account tryign to gaslight the social media.

Sad part is that we had so many better options available. Likes of Jaiswal, Samson, Rinku, Parag etc. are so much better but for some reason Indian think tank, BCCI and higher ups are fixated on Gill when he's clearly not that good.

We had such a great opportunity to try out Parag in place of Axar for the last 2 T20Is but we botched it and went with Shahbaz

They could've at least tried out someone like Vipraj Nigam. Agarkar and the current selectors have no vision or clarity. We've gone back to 2020 with these moronic selections and will once again fail at home in the next WT20 when we actually have players to succeed.

Parag was completely out of form in Smat.

Google about Vipraj

I want to see some long term thinking from the selectors. A left field selection which is in the interest of the team, and not individual players. The Gill selection and fiasco was more to prop up Gill as the next star than in the interest of the team. Bring back Rinku and give him chances as we lack firepower lower down the order. If Pandya struggles we can't even score at 8 an over at the death. Currently we only have two T20 batters - Abhishek and Pandya. We need to get players who suit the modern T20 batting approach. Likes of Rinku, Parag and Vipraj do but Shahbaz doesn't.

It's not just about randomly bringing in players but to look for players which fit the right role. I don't think our selectors do that. They seem to be lacking vision and they only think about individual players and not about the team overall.

If we strictly go by form Neither Gill nor SKY should be part of the side.  Vaibhav suryavanshi who has been in crazy touch should be part of hte side.

Shahbaz hasnt done great either. Harpreet Brar for instance has been better with both bat and ball

Harpreet is better bowler but he can only slog a few in leg-side in terms of batting

Shahbaz is similar tbh. I'm not asking for Brar's inclusion but it shows how poor selection Shahbaz is

Could have tried Salil (wk) , Ashok, try some finisher, try some mystery spin

This may sound off, not a full proof solution to Ind situation here with GIll being VC and Sky being captain.

But here is a solution ::-- Its well know if there is an accumulator in the side you need to build/set-up team around them or according to them.

So lets calibrate the potential t20i score with Gill opening think 160-180 is the range. And if Ind has good day 180 +.

Here it the playing 11::

Sanju <Open>

Gill <Open>

Here sanju does not have to be over aggressive just play ball by ball as if he is playing with accumulator, this way it does not build much pressure on Gill to match up and not much pressure on Sanju as well to score for Gill's low SR which is want abhishek is forced to do now. This will be similar to how Gill plays in GT

Sky

Tilak

Pandaya

Abhishek

Rinku/Parag/Kuldeep/Dube/Nkr

Axar

Bhumrah

Varun

Arsh

this way Ind have 3 finisher pandya , abhishek,rinku/dube/rtc+Axar 7 bowling option if any1 else other than rinku plays and 8 batter if any1 other than kuldeep plays

or open with gill and sky as ind did in wc-24 with kolhi and rohit. Then load up with mo and lower mo batter

See the difference Gill's omission makes. He isn't there and the team looks totally different. And if we play Samson, we don't even need to play Jitesh and get in Rinku or Parag! Imagine this team in the WT20!

If they had paid attention to some key statistics that is required for T20 they would not have backe dhim
