How does BCCI's venue rotation policy work?

It is commonly thought that BCCI is now having a venue rotation policy where games are rotated among 15-20 test venues, and 25-30 white ball venues.

An iconic venue like Eden Gardens hosted tests in 2013, 16, 19 and going to host one this year against RSA.

Wankhede in 2013, 16, 21, 24.

Similar with Chinnaswamy, Chepauk etc, host once every 3/4/5 years.

But Namo stadium, Ahmedabad is hosting its 4th test since 21. Two against England in 21, then 23 BGT, tomorrow once again.

In ODIs, this stadium has hosted 9 games since 2022, including the WC final, Indo-Pak WC game.

In T20Is, again 6 games since 21-22. Next year's WC final again set to be hosted here.

So what exactly is this rotation policy that BCCI talks about? It seems to me that one venue is favored disproportionately.

Note that IPL Q2 and final this year were also shifted from Kolkata to Ahmedabad last minute. Unfair on KKR/CAB because defending champion generally hosts 2nd qualifier and final.

There is written policy if that the question.

Rotation means they try to give as many venue a chance to host an event. There are few locked test value and then there are venues which only hosts LOIs and there is jpr which only hosts IPL game.

The thing is if there is a new stadium bcci will try to use and give it more events to cover-up the costs, same for upgraded and renovated venues.

A lot of most is spend and hosting the match is only way to recover that money by local boards.

Previously Del, mub, Kol, Chn, Bglr were major marquee venues and now its ahmbd.

There is nthing wrong in it. There are so many venues you have to give them matches and the other factor is who is the head of the local board and if they are  close to bcci top brass.

Last year IPL was shifted due to unforeseen issues.

No crowd today. Despite being holiday ( Dussehra, Gandhi Jayanti)

At least in tier 2 centres, people show up.

They were shifted from Kolkata because of rain threat. Monsoon had arrived early. Match was shifted from Bengaluru to Delhi too because of monsoon rain.
