rangeelaraja Posted October 22 Author Posted October 22 Things are getting better. 15-16 % would be amongst the lowest tariffs currently if not the lowest. Am sure India has negotiated a good quid pro quo.
crictime Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Hope this is not at the cost of not buying Russian crude.

Wont happen I guess, US or ME wont be able to provide the oil at the same cost which Russia is providing. If anything, India must ensure that Russia gets all possible help to keep its economy flowing.

Call it Geopolitics but US is extremely unreliable, so is China (luckily both are at opposite ends). Dont believe on world media, they have been stating Russia is running out of weapons since 2023. If India stops buying Russian oil then the global oil prices will sky rocket. Saudi doesnt have the capacity to extract and refine the oil at the rate to supply the world. Unless Russia goes back to supplying oil directly to Europe, status quo is unlikely to change. It's all Trump making noise again that India will cut down on Russian oil import. The desperation of this fellow is so evident. 13 hours ago, pkmmamks said: Confirmed that Modi doesn't write his tweets. He has a dedicated social media PR team. No Indian Prime Minister in his right state of mind would write that after what Trump has spewed in the last few months. Edited October 23 by MechEng
MechEng Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Also expecting US to "stand united against terrorism" is so cringe given that they play a big role in approving IMF bailouts for Pakistan. raki05 1

Just because he flags off trains doesn't mean he;s vella enough to write his own tweets too. He's still the PM
bharathh Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Most people in the world have a team managing their social media presence. My wife's company has a team managing her company's feeds. Why would anyone think that a PM of a country would do his/her own? Lord 1

Pretty sure he signs off such important tweets, no babu is just going to be allowed to formulate a statement on such a important call without the sign off from PM.
G_B_ Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Modi skipping asean summit. Wise as Trump might pull some in person shannanigans
rangeelaraja Posted October 23 Author Posted October 23 Looks like negotiations are still on or stalled. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/india-pm-modi-attend-asean-summit-virtually-ruling-out-trump-meeting-2025-10-23/
