The issue here is Ind does not have batter with good power game. ppl suggested parag in t20is but he has issues with his batting, just look at his dismissal in recent smat you will know the evident issues in his batting technique for a t20i batter, where batter need to hit the ball consistently he punches/jabs rather than having a full swing of the bat. when it will come off it will look good but in t20s need constant hitting where his kind of batting technique causes issues Thats where players like Ramandeep, Ashutosh, Shashank weigh in gold. They have power game and full swing of the bat. Ofcourse, each of them has some limitations, but frankly.. who doesnt. Unless we dont take a leap of faith then we'll be stuck with these semi bashers who will bat at an SR of 140-150 in death overs, while pitch demand for 200+ Likes of Gill are at best a 67(40) type batter on flat pitches as an opener.....Good numbers if you're in 2007, not so much anymore...you need players who can score 75+ in same number of balls. Abhishek has that ability ..... we need to find more such players. putrevus and tweaker 2

He is not going to get to bat each game so no pressure to score and when ever he gets the to bat he has power game, good bat swing , more importantly he can hit full balls he can hit short-balls and can access off-side. Full and bouncer and slower bouncer and off-side line (out of natural leg side bat swing ) is the death bowling. And in any big game just make him open if he clicks and Abhishek do what he does it will set-up the match on the top. And if he does not do well he was not going to get to bat if was slotted down the order. This way Ind has a back-up opener as well. For Odi Ind needs to develop a couple of players , may be naman dhir he seems to be alright vs pace and spin is tall and has big reach, short-ball does not look like a big issue for him, working bit on his bat swing and speed will be good. deepdynamo Posted December 4, 2025 Posted December 4, 2025 A fair squad for T20s exept Gill but then he is designated VC. Rinku missing is not a big miss esp in home conditions. Reddy is rightly axed. Washington is iffy, Parag could have been better.

Ofcourse there is gulf in quality but thats a base to start with. Tilak stopped bowling, he was a decent off spinners. He needs to pick that up before it gets lost. Parag too has to continue rolling his arm. They stop doing it because Indian management is obsessed with bowlers who can bat rather than the other way around, especially in ODI cricket. There's no incentive for these guys to bowl.
deepdynamo Posted December 4, 2025 Posted December 4, 2025 Anaylizing further, the selections of these three players seems confusing and fuzzy. Backup Pacer- Harshit Backup Allrounder- Washi Backup WK - Jitesh Believe, there ae better T20 players than these three player. Manucrick and tweaker 2

And he can bowl 4 fairly economical overs Hence why does fairly well in Tests and T20s. He cant hit out to save his life…
