Mayank should have fine for Ireland..would have struggled a bit in England due to much superior English batting against pace and bounce..He needs to be in 150s..to trouble them from pace perspective..this is a good confidence booster for him..

and first of all..we need to him to prove fitness by playing this entire series..

All These high pace/bounce bowlers...we need to be patient with..hopefully they will get more fitter and accurate..and smart under the guidance of Bumrah

I don't think he would have struggled as bad as Prasidh or Prince. He is bowling 145 plus, he gets bounce too. Is he predictable , maybe but I would have taken him.

I don't think this series will  prove anything which we already know about him.He needs to play against better teams.

I saw him few years back in RPL..he had pace but was getting hit a lot there..so he is gradually getting accurate..and from that  perspective..I was kind of relieved he did well..hopefully he keeps getting better..

He had pace today too.Speed is never going to be his issue. He needs more refinement and understanding his strengths. They will come only by playing more matches.

In the first 2 ODIs, the English batters were troubled a lot by the pace and bounce of Bumrah, Gurnoor, Prasidh. There were lots of wickets and numerous hits to the fingers, ribs and helmets.

And all were bowling 140 k to 146 k / 148 k range with bounce, seam movement and accuracy.

So I think accurate 145 k with bounce is quite tough for the English batters.

Play him in Tests...he in my book is a like for like replacement of Umesh. Strong and fit with an athletic physique.

With his action, he can get good amount of reverse with old ball.

Where is Umran these days. Identify all these guys who can bowl 150+ for at least one spell and groom them. How did we let him slip.

J&K isnt playing him.

Nabi, Yudhvir & one more pacer is lock in for J&K these days...even in SMAT he lost the place to Rasikh.

Yudhvir & Nabi both can bat as well.

To play tests he need to play more FC matches.

Fair point but for me..I am comparing Mayank with Mayank..I was watching this series as his performance was below my expectations this IPL..so wanted to see improvement..which I saw..perhaps flat tracks also didnt help him in IPL

You may be right however..I feel..in T20s..tracks were more batting friendly(atleastbfor Eng haha)..and he wouldnt have got new ball too..Bethell and Brook enjoyed T20s not ODIs..

esp Mayank is not very strong in challanges(per his coach as compared to Harshit)..I mean Eng batters would have put him in backfoot..ofc once he get experience he will be very strong and confident..

so I just wanted to ease him up by playing against Ire first as he is making a return to international cricket after injury

I want to give these some newer pkayers a feeling that they belong to internationsl cricket..if there is an option..directly playing against Eng in T20s in their home ground and these players first away tour..its a tough experience..

Likes of Svanshi..Mayank and Ashok Sharma I mean

This series will give Mayank confidence. Get him in rhythm.

Then he will feel more comfortable against big teams.

Mayank now knows that he will play for India if he is fit and bowling well. And this will make him train and prepare with more intent.

I disagree, he should have gone on those two tours and played in Ireland to get confidence needed.

IMO Mayank if fit is best talent we have in the country. It is pathetic we lost both series with his guy not playing.

In the T20Is in England, we had a popgun attack of medium pacers Prince, Arshdeep, Dube, Shedge ....  injured quick Harshit .... and longer format quick Prasidh.

We did not have even one 140 k+ pacer with T20 skills.

And they made merry !

Mayank should have gone to Ireland.

But he was not picked.

So it is better he plays Zim now and then maybe ODIs too if he stays fit.

Rasikh is an intelligent T20 bowler. How are his speeds though?

I don't know if he is going to be an odi bowler. Can his body withstand 10 overs?

They missed a golden chance to test his body in optimal conditions.

Both Ashok and Mayank are coming from playing a 3 day red ball Challenger trophy.

Mayank likely proved his fitness there.

That's why he didn't went to even SL A tour

Rasikh bowls 130k.. and was very useless in emerging Asia cup.

He is Mohit Sharma level at best

Ok, rejected. For some reason I thought he could hit Yorkers at 140. No need for another Harshy P then.
