Amazing keeping, Carey is so underrated, even as a batsman he scores tough, impactful runs. TBH, during Russel's era, English team hardly had any quick bowlers apart from Darren Gough. And he might not have come up for Gough. Goughie was a pretty good bowler, great bowler actually. So farking underrated on this forum.
vvvslaxman Posted June 18 Posted June 18 Now NZ is following suit. Got two wickets. Henry trapped both Root ad Brook infront.

Both Root and Broook repeatedly came down the wicket against him. Brook did that against O rourke also and smashed him for six over cover. But you can't stand up to o rourke.

Making top players like Root, Brook completely miss the line completely because they are creasebound. Batters are supposed to be creasebound in test matches when facing pacers. It's just that some modern batters like Brook have weaker defenses and they make up by attacking the bowlers. Take away their attacking ability and they become vulnerable. Root is expected to have a better defense against in-seam but this is probable a weakness he has developed. Vk1 1

Broook was clean bowled as he tried to sweep it. It is not just his weakness. Lot of batsmen who are generally playing with positive mindset. GIll also got out in England when the keeper stood up. It probably is a bad idea against Sundar o Jadeja as they can block you all day.

Root is expected to have a better defense against in-seam but this is probable a weakness he has developed. Standing up to the stumps against medium-pacers is a long-standing cricket tactic, also used by pairings like Kumar Sangakkara and Chaminda Vaas, That controls a batter by locking them inside their crease. By placing the wicketkeeper directly behind the stumps, the batter loses the ability to advance down the pitch to smother swing or retreat deep to gain extra reaction time. Pinned in this position, the batter is forced to use a highly restricted forward press, which creates doubt and forces them to play the ball much later. For a bowler utilizing late lateral movement like an "indipper," this delay prevents the batter from meeting the ball at the right time and maximizes its deviation. This makes the batter highly susceptible to being bowled, trapped LBW, or edgeing the ball, while a skilled wicketkeeper adds stumping as a constant threat to round out these modes of dismissal. Ultimately, this strategy demonstrates how a disciplined partnership between a sharp-reflexed keeper and an accurate bowler can effectively neutralize a batter's footwork. This works longtime whn both wk and bowler are v.good, if not than batters kind of uses this to their favour as they know the general length the bowler can bowl with wk stnding-up Edited June 18 by tapandrun

They repeatedly ventured out and brutalized our bowling especially Siraj. India needs a capable keeper to manage this against aggressive partnerships.
Lord Posted June 19 Posted June 19 It restricts the bowlers too. They are not comfortable bowling bouncers anymore express bowling 1

Siraj is not that accurate bowling with in the stump lines, plus do not think rishab is used to stnding-up to wkts , its kind of a special skills. Dhoni didnt like to stand-up to wkt he use to come for 1/2 ball and then go back. Best candidate amongst Ind bowler would have been bhuvi he was accurate and can move the ball in both directions Edited June 19 by tapandrun

Brook got bowled by AKash deep around his legs with keeper standing up.
