But these player were special and not many can emulate what they did so its not a right idea to keep them as bench mark

Ofc not..I think you misunderstood..the point I was making is that at such a young age DD is able to demonstrate setting up a batter and bowling well directed short pitch stuff..yorkers..shows great signs..

one tricky pony dont last long but good learners..often do well..hence this guy need to groomed well..

given the agression and promise/skills he haa shown at this level..

Yes he has potential and should be taken care of. He has shown he is not brainlessly bowling bumper but are well directed.

Hope they not run him into the ground, the thing is he does not seems to get tired and captains may over-bowl him, which is usually the case of how Ind emerging faster bowlers get injured captains just bowls them to dust and then they get injured.

 

Do not think other than him any Ind fast bowler in this series have been taking wkt not talking about wkts of tail but top order, hence the captains will be inclined to bowl him more over or longer spell.

 

Think in Aus he bowled 3-4 over of bumpers to Aus U19 batters in the 4 day game they played and he troubled them.

Because other guys are floaters. Remmeber that Ravi"kumar" from 2022 u19 world cup winning batch. He was swinging like the usual left handers. But at slow pace. Infact played an important role in that. But you don't go "wow" despite wickets. Hangarkekar wa sthe one everyone was rooting for as he had raw attributes. This guy definitely has wow factor. Limbani from the last batch looked better than others. But even he was not this good.

Hangarkekar has still not polished himself bowls alot of bad balls, it like he bowls more bad balls than good one, only bowls 1 length.

Batting has not improved much.

  

Lambani is nothing special as a bowler but he can bat a bit

Under-19  world cup always created buzz. If my memory serves right in first u19 batch where fast bowlers avidly followed was 2010 batch. Before that we had Sangwan. But not much hype

 

2010 - Netravalkar, Sandeep sharma, Unadkat.  Unadkat was the one who everyone expected big things from. He was touching 139 kph. Pretty nippy. Impressed everyone.

            But he was too raw. India brough him in too early.  But it was largely a trundler assembly. Harshal patel was another one from that batch

 

2012 - Once agains Sandeep sharma played.   But others had zero hype even though we won. Not sure how we even won with that squad. Ravikanth singh leading wicket taker along with Sandeep. Kamal passi another guy

 

2014 - One of the worst batch for pace bowling. Avesh khan played a couple of matches. Chama Milind was our main pacer.  Kuldeep and Hooda were our main weapons

 

2016 -  Zaleel, Avesh khan again were our main bowlers

 

2018 - ON paper this was the most exciting pace unit we ever had. Mavi, Nagarkoti, Porel.   Reserve Arshdeep is the one who became a success from this batch

 

2020 - First time we had tall athletic genuine fast bowler in Kartik Tyagi. I was equally impressed by Sushant Mishra.

 

2022 -  Nobody stood out. But Hangarkekar had raw pace

 

2024 - Limbani was the only one who looked okay.

 

 

So among all these bowlers if we have to pick top 5 i would put Kartik Tyagi at the top. I was more excited by this kid than anyone. I was impressed by Nagarkoti. But i was always skeptical as he was short and skinny like Sir Aggy. Looked like he was going to pick up injuries at will.  I was genuinely impressed by Unadkat. He had that attitude about him. But after slogging in domestic he became a proper line and length trundler.  After a while i am impressed by Deepesh. Hope he doesn't go 2018 batch way.

This is a general observation about selection, do not think ppl who influence selection in Ind understands fast bowling.

 

And Ind u19 is more like u22/~22 and hence there is no scope for gaining pace naturally, by then you have gained any pace that you can without strength condition after that its about strength and conditioning. Things in age regards only changed in last 4-5 yrs 

 

Next they didnt pick tallish bowlers

Very well summed up..

Naman Tiwari was there too who bowled at decent pace though no one impressed me like Kartik Tyagi..He looked to have everything that could hv answered our bowling woes..and may hv helped dominance in SENA countries
