No one us asking stop pollution in 2 months, it took Beijing 10 years but so far Cent Gov and Delhi Gov dont seem to have a long term roadmap that isnt just soundbites but actual tangible actions.

 

1. Too much stubble burning

2. too much car/bus pollution

3. Too much uncontrolled construction dust

4. Too many polluting coal powered factories.

 

The causes of pollution are clear and known- why cant Gov do anything about these.

Shhhh.. we have democracy, opposition and elections.  
 

Thing is winter months to blame, even though year by year there is worsening data. But, Saar even South India is polluted.

Of course the path is daunting. But a start HAS to be made. If the solution is to remove some components from delhi, they have to be removed. Like excision of a cancerous tumour. 

 

Actually it is easy for delhites. If the capital is shutdown for a week, it will have such a wide impact that our political/babu class will grovel on street and search for solution. This is not something enjoyed by residents of other cities.

One thing is that mother nature is very very forgiving. During covid lockdowns yamuna water became pristine, air became crystal clear overnight. Or after 1-2 hrs of rainfall, air remains clean of a day or two.

 

What i mean is, all the pollution is reversible.

 

For EVs , charging infra is lacking, cheaper ev options should be there. People will def. adopt. It is surprising Gadkari who is transport minister today also said he falls ill of he spends 2 days in delhi where it is his responsibility to do the work instead of cribbing. Very difficult to stand this guy.

As our pci rises, the pollution will get worse across the board. That is mathematical. 

 

I sincerely wish we stop at $10000 pci. This land cannot take any more.

Pollution levels are similar allover india. Chennai aqi currently is 194. This is very similar to what Delhi has in normal weather without all that fog and winter related inversion.

Dare I say, delhi may be better than many other cities of India due to

- open garbage burning

-industries emitting unknown poisonous gases, 

-Vehicles plying without pollution checks emitting black smoke.

 

All of the above is thankfully absent in Delhi.

 

So, on paper Delhi may seem worse but in actuality, several indian cities are worse than delhi, this is sad.

 

One can see the numbers in life expectancy, delhi still has abt the highest life expectancy in India.

 

The only time I feel like it is unliveable is from armd 20 oct till end of November, due to parali burning.

I think you did not read my comment. Or wanted to answer to some other comment.

 

 i commented on india as a whole.  Not just on delhi.  We are at 194 for $3000. Imagine if we reach $10k. It will be a disaster.
