Which tracks ? There are 8 venues.

Even in Johannesburg, it's not a given that it will be that flat.

Pitches there are a lot trickier than they look.

Of course, if it is going to be a rare belter of a pitch , then you have to bat as aggressively as possible but such pitches are not common in South Africa.

Don't confuse their T20 pitches with their ODI pitches.

Even in India, Chinnaswamy has the reputation of being a belter but in ODI cricket , 340 is more than enough to defend.

Wanderes  due to high altitude ball flies. That is where we made 287/1 in 20 overs

Klassen smoked Zampa for 110+ in a ODI in Highveld (guess Centurion)  ball was flying off the blade.  I think in LOIs Centurion is best place to bat on the planet.

Though under lights ball moves a lot at Joburg.

We need two bowlers who bowl 150+ to limit other teams to 250-260 max.

Mayank, Ashok and maybe a new face.

It's impossible to score 400+ on all pitches/against all attacks.

Think we should prepare for each venue at the next World Cup

There may be the odd pancake wicket but 99% of the time you can win at Centurion  with 320-350, Johannesburg with 315-325 and Blomfontein with 290+ etc.

350+ is very rare in South Africa.

Should not make the mistake of going too hard too early on those wickets

My guess is India games will be at Durban (Indian diaspora) Joburg and Centurion with an odd one at Paarl or Gberqha.

Don't think we will play in Namibia so an odd game in Harare.

Semi final in Durban and Centurion.

Final at  Joburg bull ring.

Bumrah Siraj Arshdeep will be the three.  Rana with his batting will edge Siraj.

One extra pacer in the squad might be Ashok/Mayank depending upon IPL.

Think in last 3-4 years avg 1st innings total in SA is 280-290. Will need batters who can play at high tempo (not saying t20 batters), specially in middle overs.

Plus Ind has not been able to finish strong in last 10 overs, need to fix it. Need some1 who can get 4/6 relying only on pandaya is not really a bright idea.

Need 2 batters who can hit 4/6 down the oder.

Arshdeep has not given much confidence in Odis vs top teams. His pace is not same as it is in t20s.

based on  domestic crk, laf:: naman tiwari and pacer who can bat (hit 4/6) down the order :: ramakrishna/ nabi/ v.patil

break down should be

100 - first 10 overs

100 - last 10 overs

200 - 30 overs that can be achieved with risk free cricket. Hardest part will be starting and finishing.

This approach is a sustainable approach than going hungo  over the course of 50 overs. You could implode by 35th over

3 wkts down for 100 in first 10 overs is fine for T20 - but it can come back to bite in 50 over match.

If you become 175-6 then never mind 400, but 275 is now in doubt esp with our esteemed tail with the bat.

Yes and you can do that when the pitch is exceptionally flat. That's not always the case though

Currently for all teams the idea is to get to 300-320 and if they still are in good position get it up to 345 on bating surfaces.

For bit bowler's friendly surfaces its try to get 270-290. Going too hard can end up team not even getting to par scores. Its about playing at good tempo keep assessing the score and then try go big in last 10 overs.

last 3 years scoring rate in SA is much higher even for away teams.

England has the flattest pitches

South Africa has the second flattest pitches

Pakistan has the third flattest pitches

India has the fourth flattest pitches

400 is not possible right now, but here is what 320-350 template will looks like.

Teams have to control the fall of wks so that it does not go beyond 7 wkts hopefully just 1 wkt per 10 overs, that way teams can control the tempo and run flow.

Else will need exceptional innings frm a batter which again brings back of not able to do it on regular basis. This means some1 from top 4 getting a ton in run-a-ball and 1 more batter in top 4 getting 80-100 in 60-80 balls

Overs Runs Wickets
10 70 1
20 120 2
30 180 3
40 235 4
50 350+ 6

Like I said, this depends. When India toured, pitches were not flat at all. Neither was it that flat when Pakistan toured.

You are comparing relative flatness of these pitches.

Is there anything which shows that you can score 400 regularly? Answer is no.

400 in INdia is also tough. But we are talking about future. How to achieve that. Ther was a time 300 was not easy. Now it is the norm. I expect teams to play 9 batsmen most of the bowlers being all rounders. Bowling quality goes down. Batsmen will have a field day. Use scoreboard pressure and strategies they choke the oppositio.

Ind's batting lacks power hitter to finish in addition to that Ind does not have batting depth. It end with Pandaya at #6 and may be Axar but he is not that big a hitter specially vs pace. And then batting ability sharply drops down : Bhumrah, Siraj, Kuldeep, Singh can hardly hold the bat

What happened to Klassen? How come he wasn't part of the SA squad? Was he injured coz he'd better than Rickleton and a couple of other batters.

We should give it a shot for at least one bilateral series. Just for kicks and giggles:

Jaiswal

Sooryawanshi

Kishan (w/k)

Verma

Iyer (c)

Pandya (vc)

Rinku

Parag

Axar

Bawa

Bumrah

Reserves: Rana, H. Dubey, Samson, Abhishek

I like this team! Maybe add a pacer (Arshdeep, Harshit or any form pacer) in place of Bawa or add Samson in place of Kishan or Rinku and that's a nice team!
