Maybe go with the following in remaining matches:

Sundar - to take advantage of PP. Saha’s role.
Gill

Sai S

Buttler

Holder - showed form in the recent World Cup

X

Y

Rashid

Rabada

Ashok

Siraj

Krishna

May be use Banton if in good form in place of Rashid or Rabada, and get Sai K in.

Worst lower order since 2022. They are so over reliant on their top order, they can't even score 150 without them. Worst average and worst strike rate in death overs among all teams.

I couldn't go past the first sentence "Sundar - to take advantage of PP" and fell over laughing :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

Wolves have signed SA WK Conner Esterhuizen in place of Tom Banton (unavailable or injured?).

Hope he brings good luck!

Conner should be used to open the batting, ideally with Buttler, rather than kept to warm the bench:

Good top order batter can provide much needed impetus

Another game (v RCB), another example of poor strategy and tactics:

* No Esterhuizen (esp. if he joined the squad)

* Sundar at 4 versus Holder and that too in the death phase. Sundar appeared to be playing for his place rather than pushing himself to get boundaries in

Below should be the preferred 11-12

Esterhuizen

Buttler

Sai S

Gill

Holder

Rawat

Rashid or Rabada or equivalent

Sai K or equivalent

This is better line-up more suited to t20s, but having sai and gill playing together after pp in middle order may create problems but GT does not have many options may be Sai to open and buttler comes at #3 rest remains as it.

Middle overs can actually be a good spot for them considering the current squad dynamics as they can handle spinners, at least theoretically, better than Buttler and Esterhuizen esp. when the pitches get relatively tired.

In middle overs, you can play yourself in a bit. Gill, if he strikes his best form, can take down bowling in the end too.

Buttler is not at his best so can swing his bat around in PP. He is not going to hang around. Esterhuizen needs to be placed against pace bowling.

Man you're too much! Gill taking down bowling at the end :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

The only thing softies Gill has taken down is Indian selectors' common sense allowing him to be made captain for ODIs when he shouldn't even be in the team.

Next 4 games are versus the current top 4, so a swim or sink situation for the Wolves:

04/30 v RCB at home

05/03 v PBKS at home

05/09 v RR at away

05/12 v SRH at home

With the next 3 out of 4 games at NaMO, Wolves need to evaluate bringing in Esterhuizen esp. as an opener. He can replace the struggling Rashid or Rabada, who has found some form, as Wolves have relatively good Indian bowling options.

With 4 games to go, Wolves are just 1 point away from the team currently at #1  … a playoff place or even a top 2 finish likely :woot:

Posted this previously too, gt is not a t20 batting side , the team has only 1 proper t20 batters i.e. buttler. The team relies on bowlers keeping opp under par scores all the times and may be 1-2 timely 15 ball 25ish innings by players like tewatia etc..

The trend and pattern is similar to pak team of 2020-21 . 2 batters are allowed to play all the balls and score at their own pace and then its bowlers job to put other teams below a certain total.

hence couple of not so good games for pradish and ashok gets them out of the playing 11. as the batting line-up is playing on thin margins. And as this ia a 14 game per side tournament there will be couple of days where high but slow scoring batters are point of diff.
