You would prefer trundlers like kamboj and avesh rather then geniune fast bowler

I would prefer a bowler who has an impact and wins a match. Avesh is useless as well and should never be brought in. Kamboj did have an impact in a few matches so better than likes of Tyagi and Avesh.

KKR team analyst should show Tyagi how much runs he has conceded with his slower ones.

I think most of his runs have come through slower balls .

His short ball is very impressive and he has not nailed yorkers perfectly this year.

Yeah, his slower balls are his weak link.
He has bowled yorkers, but the accuracy which he had in 2020-21 seems to be missing. Not everyone can defend 4 runs of last over against Markram, Pooran, Hooda and one more west indian batter (can't remember the name).
Probably due to his new action ? Need more time to adjust through it.

Agree with this, but Kamboj isn't the answer.

You need someone like Bumrah who can do in all 3 formats. Siraj & Prasidh can do in Tests, Shami can do in Tests and ODI's.
Our cupboard is bare, unless we don't trust the new pacers, we will never get one. Remember Siraj had a horrible start of his career and was getting pasted in every T20 and ODI game until he played Tests vs Australia.

Australia backs their fastest pacers and help them improve their skills, and Australian fast bowling legacy is the best amongst all cricketing nations.
Lillee, Thomson, McG, Gillespie, Ryan H, Damien Fleming, Starc, MJ, Hazelwood, Cummins, Lee...you name the pacer. None of them are trundlers who will bowl under 130k. Nathan Bracken was one and he was discarded. Likes of Kasprowicz and Andy Bichel were capable of hitting 140s with ease.

Windies is close second but they had an exceptional and unfair advantage of height as well. Holding, Marshall, Roberts, Croft were FAST...Bishop, Ambrose, Garner were what we call medium fast. Walsh was a trundler but he had exceptional height.

SA had fast bowlers like Steyn, Donald, Morkel. Philander and Pollock were exceptions but they were extremely tall.

Kartik struggles at the death. Pretty good otherwise

Very workable problem unlike Kamboj who got hit in all phases

Yeah that is a tough phase, just saw Mayank the other night as well both have their strengths

Tyagi's problem is decision making. He has all the tools. If you look at Arshdeep at the start he had the same issue. HE had this third over syndrome where he would leak runs massively by trying too many things. He slowly started sticking to plans and bowling to field. IT takes practice to guess what batsman is trying to do and bowl the least exepcted delivery. Eshan Malinga has really become better in this regard. He always bowls the least exepcted deliveries. That is essentially Bumrah's strength too. But in this IPL he just bowls same stuff every ball. Bringing the ball back in at 135k.

Not just death but implodes mentally whenever there's pressure. Very similar to Chahal. You see it at the death as that's normally when you have max pressure but Kartik goes to pieces anytime there's a decisive moment and there's pressure on the bowler. You can chalk it down to death bowling but it's more to do with handling pressure, and you can't have players who're mentally weak. Plus we need pacers who can bowl at the death coz spinners can't bowl in that phase and you can't play multiple pacers coz one pacer can't bowl at the death.

Death bowling comes with pressure only.

But it can definitely be improved. Yash Dayal got hit for 30 by Rinku since then he did well at RCB

Bhuvi lost so many games at death

Apart from Bumrah there is zero reliable pacer we have at death

I remember Jansen had to defend 25 runs in one over against GT'sfirst season. He conceded 27 runs to Rashid Khan. He has Bravo as coach. He can master that dipping yorker with the help of him. But he should be able to hide his slower ball better. 8 out of 10 times batsmen pick his slower ones easily.

Actually that maybe counterproductive

Tyagi is a very different bowler. He does not need an offcutter as much as Bravo did

Tyagi won RR a game in 2021 defending 4 in last over. Jusy bowled yorkers. So mental strength is also dependent on what you are fed

IPL needs 30-40 pacers + rotation/injury options.

Why are we focused on one particular fast bowler? It is not as if Kartik is undeserving of a place in an IPL 11.

He obviously tries slower balls not to be predictable. But that is clearly not working out. If he really wants to master slower ones he has to learn properly. You are right. Not everyone can master it. If you look at rabada's slower ones. They are probably the most innocuous deliveries. In world cup looked pathetic. Even at the start of IPL he was average. Then he goes "f*** it. letme send down one thunderbolt after another". Things started falling for him. He hardly bowled slower ball.

Not everyone goes to pieces everytime. Arshdeep, Pandya and lot of other bowlers in IPL do ok. They get hit but Tyagi simply implodes, bowling wides, full tosses and beamers. Tyagi is a mental midget and can't handle any pressure.

Arshdeep went for 68 v RR. Even Hardik has been smashed many times.

And they are both much more experienced

Occasionally but not everytime the way Tyagi implodes under pressure. if you're talking one off even Bumrah has been hammered. Would you ever trust Tyagi under pressure when game is on the line? I wouldn't.

This is his performance in IPL. How is it imploding everytime?

It all because of perception.

Fast bowlers are seen in India with suspicion, hence their every gap is over exaggerated.

If its a trundler, then it will be shrugged off as a bad day or batters excellence.

Perception bro.

Fast bowlers are seen with suspicion, as if they're some undeserving theives and anti social elements, an outlier.

Trundlers are everywhere, hence we have somehow accepted them and their faults

I think IPL is being used to attack certain players by armchair selectors, who praise their favorites and diss their competition.

IPL is a platform to be enjoyed for its quality of cricket and not to play a laughable “selector game” as if one is a selector.

Recently, BCCI announced the ODI squad for the series versus AFG where many have not even played a game or played only a handful of games this IPL or haven’t done as well as expected. Most  International LOIs are losing their charm anyways.

If this is meant to be a proper discussion, the thread title could have been a respectful - “Has Kartik Tyagi regressed?” Or “Should KKR replace Tyagi?” or “What options KKR has besides Tyagi?”, etc. … If Tyagi was bowling poorly and if a KKR fan (or a Tyagi fan) created such a thread, it would still be understandable (a frustrated fan’s reaction).

But the title is “Kartik Tyagi is shyte” so there is no attempt to create a discussion but probably to simply take the opportunity to attack a player.

And when there have been quite a few bowlers going for runs particularly in the last two seasons while Kartik could be among those pacers with relatively good numbers for KKR. We saw how Vaibhav Arora bowled for KKR in comparison.

What armchair selectors do by creating such pointless topics is only expose their own limitations at understanding the game. They tend to stick to a formula that they have devised and judge players and teams based on that rather than actually understanding what is happening, what the teams are attempting based on their limitations, etc., to see the direction.
