Just now saw a post on reddit that he is going to announce retirement soon.

The best thing for the Indian team is for him to retire as soon as possible

Don't throw punches when a man is down.

Rohit has given Indian fans so much joy over the years and deserves respect for that. I know Samson is the flavour of the month, but that shouldn't come at the cost of tearing Rohit down.

If you want to assign blame, question the selectors for not pushing him to retire after the CT win, or the coach if he's using players as scapegoats to deflect criticism. Rohit didn't cause the entire batting collapse.

Yes, it's time for him to move on. But there's a way to say that, with humility and gratitude for everything he's has done for Indian cricket.

Great post. Just one quibble:

Maybe the selectors did push him, but he didn't bite - after all, he played well there and world-class sports stars have unshakeable belief in themselves. The only way it could've been done is by dropping him. But, like you said, it can and should be done with grace.

By the same token, I don't owe him any gratitude, nor does he need it. His bank account is enough validation of the skill and dedication that he exhibited!
