That noob captain Kanhaiya and coaching staff threw the game away by bowling part timers.

What an absolute sh*tshow of a tournament

It's appalling the way the NZ captain gave up with 60 runs left.

Bowled part timers and did not bring back Gurnoor for a 2nd spell.

We should discard this stupid zonal system and go for india A, B and C

Cricinfo says "Jagadeeshan and Tilak bring target below 100"

While Tilaks contribution is a measly 11 in a 42 run partnership

Even in first innings, it was Shreyas who was more attacking while Tilak was 40 off 100 balls and cricinfo headlines was "Tilak attacking batting thwarts NZ"

This is how he plays T20 as well lol This is first class.

Zonal system won't work because most teams don't field their best promises. Looking at it this is not teh best NZ team not the best SZ team. Any runs any wickets you take against these players is null and void.

In NZ. I am in favour of going with

7. Washington / Sooryavanshi if green mamba

8. Harshit / Nitish if green mamba

9. Gurnoor

10. Prasidh

11. Bumrah

* Green mamba needs more batting.

Our team is not the best in terms of exploiting green pitch. We generally waste it by bowling half way down.

We need a pure swing bowler  Arshdeep is the only one who knows how to swing the ball

Seam with extra bounce is devastating in NZ.  Henry and Jamieson and Jacob Duffy has done it off late.

Boult relied on swing and had middling results mostly.

In Wellington it is very windy and it is possible to find lavish swing... But in Christchurch extra pace and carry is always the king.

So you have to prioritize which way you wanna go.

Akashdeep is injured long back,on What basis is he going to be selected.

Bumrah, Siraj, Prasidh would be the 1st choice pacers, Gurnoor will certainly not will be risked as there are more experienced bowlers than him.

He will warm the bench and even Reddy would be preferred for his batting.

My guess is Akashdeep might play India A games and they will see how it goes.

He was MoTm in Birmingham so they can't discard him so soon either.

akash deep is a solid option but seeing arshdeep create chaos in new zealand in a t20 match proves his potential if he gets the new red ball on a green swinging track he can run through new zealand

You need bowlers who can swing and seam depending on conditions, only swing does not work anymore unless wobble seam

Arshdeep of 2022 and 2026 are totally different.  That guy can't swing the ball anymore.  Domestic has beens are swinging it more than him.

Arshdeep has been very good defensive bowler for India these days that's why they select him in T20s and you need a left arm pacer in T20 cricket.

A left arm pacer is not a necessity in test cricket if he is low skilled

Exactly That Khurram guy and Md Ali were trying to swing in Headingley but got belted badly.  Swing is easiest form of bowling to deal with and threat perception is least as well.

I saw Md Ali trying cross seam and little bit of Wobble in Lord's (probably learned a thing or two from Abbas) and he looked more threatening.

Akashdeep is the right option. NZ conditions will suit him.

He shouldn't be played in Australia, in India with new ball he can contribute as well. Plus his ability to bat is another +ve

our bowlers are not good on green pitches or in swinging conditions at least arshdeep showed what he can do in t20s but i know he still hasn't played test cricket so playing him is definitely a gamble

Our bowlers are pretty good in fact on green tracks.

MCG 2021, Cape Town 2024,  Even in Christchurch 2020 we were ahead in the game for most of the test.

Our struggles are usually in 4th inns when pitch stops assisting pacers much and it requires hitting the deck hard.

Headingley 2025 Birmingham 2022 Newlands 2021 Joburg 2020 are prime examples.

We usually miss a pacer who can whack the pitch hard.  Prasidh failed in Centurion boxing day test in 2023.. and they selected him for Hit the deck bowling
