I think shaik rasheed would be best suited to number 3 however he too must be played in lower middle order till he finds his footing in international cricket. Till then sai is best #3 we have got

Sri lanka have announced squad for first test. No nissanka or kusal mendis. Dickwella returns

There is a wild experiment they have not tried yet. Pant at no.3 I have harly seen him dangling the bat edging to slips. He is very decisive when he decides to defend. But keeping for so many overs and batting at 3 is an exhausting task unless they want to try Jurel as keeper.

India has done some unthinkable things in recent times like series of whitewashes. Lot of "firsts" or "first in a long time" under this TM. Here is another "first" beckoning. Without Bumrah too.

Sounds like a Rahul Dravid experiment. Why break something that is working? Play DDP at 3 and Sarfaraz at 6

It is already in broken state. No.3 experiment has been going on for a while. Nobody has come close to peak pujara yet.

That would create a hole at 5.

Let Pant stay at 5, and explore who can fill in at 3.

I'd be curious to see what Sarfaraz can do at 6. Slow, low pitches in SL are tailor made for him. TM should be sensible enough to play him and hope he comes good

Ashwin bowled it as slow as 74 kph back in the 2015 series.
