SOme bowlers lose a lot of pace after pitching. Some skids off. What batsmen perceive is what matters. He would look like a 135 k bowler for these batsmen.

This RObinson doesn't look fit one bit. Looks like a casual fisherman drinking beer every evening with no exercise or anything.  But very talented and skilled bowler.

Atkinson bowled well. Too good deliveries that kept missing the edge o shan masood.   But these 2 guys attacked the stumps a lot more than others. Hence they were rewarded.

Like you said cricket does not need athleticism or fitness. For heaven's sake we had BS Chandrasekhar who was afflicted by polio in his bowling arm.... and he bowled faster than Bhuvaneshwar maybe and had 250+ test wickets. Even the likes of Richards were surprised at his pace sometimes.

Medium pacers, who can swing and seam the ball, have always done well in England with the red ball. An even slower and much shorter Amarnath was so good in 1983.

 

Robinson averages 28 away from home. And most of his tests are on helpful SENA tracks.

It is a reactino to poor batting performance against New zealand. He will eventually come back into the set up as an all rounder.
