cowboysfan Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 i am sorry to burst everyones bubble but this looks like a long shot -to achieve the number one we need settled batsmen and bowlers who are relatively unchanged for 2 to 3 years(case in point the current sa team). just when our bowling has come together like never before we are losing some all time great batsmen who will be difficult to replace if not impossible.i am not saying it cant happen but its a long way off. on the other hand we are set to be the dominant side in T20 and ODIs
Lord Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Act. BCCI are plain jealoue with our skipper's success and fear his increasing involvement with the board ... so they are giving him no Test matches to play with !!! :winky: no actually they are making sure we remain t20 champs by giving IPL practice:winky:
King Tendulkar Posted December 30, 2008 Author Posted December 30, 2008 We will be no 1. We are the best side in world. Saffies aint all that. They beat a demoralised aussie side. I wish we were playing SA in SA. We would prove we are the champs
sharma Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 i thought these countdown threads were jinx threads?
cochise Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 No need to be over-superstitous...just enough, no more. :D
King Tendulkar Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 So close:nervous: Just a matter of time before we are number 1. Just need to play some god dammn tests Dammn the BCCI for not scheduling any test series for the next 10 years:angry_smile:
zubinpepsi Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 when the players aint bothered abt it.. no point we crying abt this lack of tests....
King Tendulkar Posted August 24, 2009 Author Posted August 24, 2009 when the players aint bothered abt it.. no point we crying abt this lack of tests.... Who said the players are not bothered????? I guarantee players like sachin, dravid, bhaji, gambhir and sehwag are desperate for tests
Sachinism Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 We wont be #1 for a long long time. We are barely playing tests while others are playing quite a few. We've played the least tests out of all the teams this year. 3 test matches. How can you go expect to go number without playing.
zubinpepsi Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Who said the players are not bothered????? I guarantee players like sachin, dravid, bhaji, gambhir and sehwag are desperate for tests if they r so worried abt that.. maybe they wud have pushed for a win in cases where we had the chance.. everyone was so contented with 1-0 result.. also they cud have pushed the BCCI for more tests.. cant they?
saneindian Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Lets blank SL and SA 3-0 each besides blanking bangers 2-0 . 8 test wins on the trot shud see us as the no 1 test team in the world. Easier said than done.AT home we have never won a test series 3-0 after tht 93 series against Eng. But then to be no1 test side, yu have to do extraordinary things regularly. With the potential our test side has, we can definitely achieve if we play with proper strategy and if BCCI sheds its love for moolah and stops killing players in useless tamasha tournaments like IPL and now this corporate tournament.
Shehezaada Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 this is exciting because I've been India to be #1 for a WHILE...I started seriously watching cricket in 2001 and we weren't even close! But with Australia's demise we have a GREAT chance!
rkt.india Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 dont live in dream guys no team is no.1 right now first 4 teams can beat each other any given day, in reality Indian fast bowling is very average, spinners cant win you matches everywhere. A team can only dominate if it has good fast bowlers, like australia had in mcgrath, lee, gillespi, kasprowich, bichel, etc. West Indies in the 80s had 4-5 gud pacers, pakistan were formidable in the 80s and 90s bcoz of Imran, Waqar, Akram, likes of bowler. we have Zaheer and Ishant, they are gud but still lacks the penetration those bowlers had, rest pacers are just for increase the numbers.

rkt.india Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 thats why i said India has a long way to go before considered as #1, India has gud batting but not bowling, England has gud bowling, but weak batting, SA is gud in both streams, Australia is gud in both streams bt inexperienced players and struggles in spin dept.
vvvslaxman Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 As long as India doesn't go for clean sweeps we cannot become no.1 They just win a test and try to save the remaining tests.

No,we dont go for the win.Its irks me to end.I will never forgive Dhoni for the 3rd test in NZ.We have the opportunity to go for in the coming months but watch how we will sit on a lead and be comfortable with it.Its the Indian mentality. The win everything you play attitude is still lacking in our players-even after all these years and with such a good team.

Zaheer, RP Singh, and Sreesanth buttsecksed the English bowlers in England.
