Don't know, actually. In 1990s, Sachin was in the greatest-ever- form. So, Sachin then vs. Sachin now, I think Sachin then would win. In the end, its Sachin vs. Sachin. Therefore, um, I win.

Not even close. This team would smash that one. The only thing the 90's guys have going for them is a peak Tendulkar and a very good Saurav Ganguly. Azhar and Jadeja were class players but i'd take Yuvraj and Dhoni over either of them any day.

I think Yuvi and Dhoni would be the major difference between the 2 sides. And Pace bowling department.

Its a good thing that this team is SO much better than the one in the 90s. If it was the other way around, we'd be like the WI (actually they'd have to compare themselves to the team in the 80s I guess).

I would take current Indian team any day over team from 90s. Viru, Yuvi, Dhoni and Gambhir stand out in today's team

ODI cricket has evolved a lot over the years, especially in terms of scoring rates, bowling at the death, fielding. This 90's team doesn't look so hot compared to today's Indian batting machine, but they were a decent side in that era. They won quite a few trophies - Asia Cups, numerous triangular and quadrangular series against top sides like AUS, SA, WI.

90s ODI team barring Sachin and Ganguly was a mediocre one. But I would like to compare the current team with the one that we took to world cup 2003.

One can't really compare the two teams of different decades. in 1990s, we used to see a different kind of odi's... low scoring ones etc.. today most of the time we see big chases etc. the 90s Indian odi team used to play codi's in a different manner, challenging the likes of Australia, South africa, lanka, pakistan etc teams who also used to play a totally diff game then what they play now.. they whole mindset that time was different a lot has changed.. run rate has increased, bowlers are under more preassure then what they were before..

if the two teams were to play a 5 match series; current team would win 5-0 and 3 to 4 games would have a scorecard like the one we had today. Prasad, Raju/Joshi with Sachin/ganguly/robin as fifth bowler would make pathan look like a class batsman.

THe outstanding team of 1998 was a major success because of two unstoppable forces: Tendulkar in batting and Kumble in bowling. The others merely assisted chipping in with good performances here and there. This team has got contributors through out. One gets out, another comes out and does the job. One bowler gets thrashed, another comes and takes the wickets. This is a much better team.
