Rohan495 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Can someone explain to me how Gilly can have to guts to drop VVS for so long and practically given a player like Venugopal Rao and Teja so many tries. Makes no sense to me. First off it seems like the aussies have shown their intent clearly by pushin VVS to the side from the beginining of the tournament. The team management never understands that VVS is best as an Opener where he has an average of 50.33 with a strike rate of 130 how can you ignore that?
coffee_rules Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I wish they had dropped Dravid as well. T20 is not for old people.

vvvslaxman Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Hayden okay we are talking about human beings Not T-Rex :--D
cowboysfan Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I wish they had dropped Dravid as well. T20 is not for old people. i dont even know where to begin to reply to seriuosly flawed statement.without these "old people" brc wouldnt even have won 4 games.
vvvslaxman Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I think BRC were favorites prior to IPL because of south african presence and south african conditions. If they are playing on flat pancake pitches BRC would have been eliminaetd long back.

fineleg Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I wish they had dropped Dravid as well. T20 is not for old people. :dontknow: Did you forget the initial few matches where Dravid was the only one who was batting well for BRC? Kumble, Warne, Gibbs, SRT, Jayasurya, even Vaas in one of his spells, and many other "old people" did well in this IPL! Kumble infact best spinner.
vvvslaxman Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 i disagree-Indian ptiches would have helped RYder and KP immensely. would have helped Yusuf, Asnodkar more :haha:
Sachinism Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I think the Aussies have a great deal of respect for VVS, but I don't understand why he wasn't given more chances. I guess it got to the point when they started winning games, probably didn't want to drop certain players and then at the end, maybe didn't want to take a risk by including him
vvvslaxman Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Suman or Teja are playing in place of him i think . Also they have to fulfill the quota of minimum of 4 players from under 23. So it is difficult to please everyone.
vvvslaxman Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 From a neutral perspective Whole idea of IPL is to unearth new talents not to recycle dead beats.
jf1gp_1 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Deccan Chargers a team hijacked by the aussies ... and took it from bottom of the pool to semi's. Cant believe all the aussies are still in team.
vvvslaxman Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 It is ironical. Laxman has conveniently opted out from Ranji trophy, duleep trophy several times citing some reason or the other while Tendulkar/Dravid were playing for their states.
Dark Warrior Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 if DC is hijacked, then what's d position of KKR??? :hmmm:
