Sachinism
He is monotonic When someone talks like that it is hard to keep interest in what they're saying Link to comment
Ram
He needs to be paired with someone excitable, gys like Tony Greig or Mark Nicholas. Else. he can make it sound a bit dreary. But hey, he made more meaningful comments in his 30 min stint than guys like Siva, Lal or Raja have made in the 4-5 years combined. So, I aint exactly complaning. He will get better as he commentates more. Listen to Shastri in his first days as commentator. He was quite ordinary, but has since worked very hard on his voice modulation to suit the requirements of television commentating. Anil too, will improve, the more he commentates. Link to comment
graphic23
Yup, agree with MM here. He was unsure of what he can say or what he should say, rather. I think it will be an exciting time for him, and I didn't mind him one bit today. Link to comment

Thank you Morris for being one of the only guys here with a sense of perspective. Cricketers don't just jump into the comm box and all start taking it to it with ease, Warne is a rare exception in that sense. Kumble at the end of it has a ton of knowledge and insight and will be great for us fans and viewers. He'll just become more comfortable with this sort of speaking and the interplay with other commentators with a little more time and experience. Rough to write him off after one stint. Link to comment
jf1gp_1
what are you guys talking about, i thought he was fantastic . I guess thats what happens after an overdose of DLF-Maxi-mum Link to comment
Ram
I found one thing hard to miss - He kept praising Dhoni's captaincy. :D Link to comment
vvvslaxman
He is not annoying like L Siva. Atleast he has a much more tolerable voice. Since he is new it is too early to judge his commentary ability. As an experienced spinner he will definitely have some interesting things to share. But don't expect orgasmic reaction from Kumble for boundaries and sixes. Link to comment
gult
He is good but also boring some times. He needs to talk a little less about spin bowling and little more about other equally important things ;) Link to comment
gaurav92
legend is commentating :adore: Link to comment
abhinav
He sees too much beauty in everything "the beauty of Dhoni's captaincy..." "the beauty of spin bowling..." "The beauty of 20-20 cricket..." He also needs to speak a little louder to make himself audible. I do believe he will get better if he sticks to commentary, he shows some promise..unlike Kapil Dev who was a disaster from day 1. zubinpepsi
its his 1st day.. so he might be bit hestant.. he ll improve over the days when he gets confiddent n comfortable.. thank god, theres no L Siva, lal uncle, ravi shastri... Link to comment
Kartikey
Dada and Ian Chappell - now that would be an awesome combo Link to comment
msb1991
I thought he waas pretty good. Spoke sense and is great at English which is more than can be said about numerous commentators from the subcontinent. Moreover, he really seems to think before he speaks rather than saying whatever comes into his head like a certain Laxman SRK. Link to comment
Dinx - the Jinx
ravi shahstri is busy cheerleading.. Kishan Kanhaiya :hysterical: Link to comment
King Tendulkar
To be honest 1st impressions. BORING. Am sure will improve though Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Have you guys listened to Krish srikkanth, Bishen Bedi, Jai simha, Maninder singh you would like to put a letter opener through your eyes. Compared to them this guy is better. I hope he improves. Srinath was a failure at the commentary box. Link to comment
Macj
His style is too flat for cricket commentary - he needs to excite a tad. Link to comment
The Outsider
He is already doing a much better job today - speaking more often without adding any gibberish and getting some emotions into the tone as well. Was probably nervous on debut. Link to comment
Cricketics
WOw.. weird comments here.. His insights have been awesome. He talks like a man who has definately played over 15 years of cricket. I would definately have him in commentry box over boring folkz like Kepler Wessel who would bore you to death Link to comment
