Totally agree....I find it total bs that he somehow sneaked in yet again in the T20 and ODI squads. but let's take another player who has had a great division of opinion among fans-Rohit Sharma.....he has been mediocre in the LOI formats but most fans still think he will come good at the test level without reading too much into his LOI performance...I have been a advocate of this too but I find it Hypocritical that if we apply this theory to Rohit then why not to Jadeja?

None of us are cricket experts, but most of us can see the difference in quality between Rohit Sharma and Jadeja. If Rohit fails at the international level, it won't be because he is a poor batsman from a fundamental standpoint, but as far as Jadeja is concerned I can write a thesis on all that is wrong about his batting to succeed at the international level.

Doesnt he have FC performances to back up his claim?

Yeah, Rohit has a great FC record, but he also has a lot of other things in his favor. I am not completely sold on the idea that he will succeed in international cricket, but he certainly has a much, much higher chance of succeeding than Jadeja. The guy is a complete hack.

Even before Shane Warne's endorsment-which I dont take too seriously,Jadeja was talked about as a talent to watch out for as well. Also 3 triple hundreds are no fluke...as you said and does give a glimpse of a batsman's ability to play long innings and at the same time atleast some amount of stroke playing ability. Now again I am not bigging up Jadeja here,but tbf to the selectors the slot that opened up was for No 6-No7 and the fact that he was among the wkts too,might have pushed him ahead of other viable contenders for this spot.

Bits and pieces cricketers don't succeed in test cricket. If I have learned something from watching cricket over the years and was asked to identify one thing, this would be it - "Bits and pieces cricketers don't succeed in test cricket". Can you give me an example of one, just one, cricketer who had a successful career by being a bits and pieces cricketer in tests ie. someone whose primary skill was not good enough for a spot, but as a "package" made an impact?

Just like Rohit and some of the other perceived talents we have had,there is always a lingering question as what if the player is playing in the wrong format? All these have in their own way justified Jadeja's inclusion in the squad....again Is he good enough? or is he better than a certain x player? are different topics altogether. I personally think Jadeja from his perspective has done everything right in domestics to be in the selectors scheme of things...obviousy there are the Dhoni love and Rhiti Sports conspiracy theories which I have started to buy slowly to a certain extent but pinning all the blame on those theories for his inclusion in TESTS is wrong.

Phir wohi! Scoring triple hundreds ticks one out many boxes. As a rule, I have never seen anyone score a triple hundred on a green track or a turner. Triple hundreds are vastly overrated and demonstrate that when the conditions suit batting, the guy can play really long innings. Lara is not remembered for his 375 and 400, but his 153 and 213. How many such innings has Jadeja played in domestic cricket to give you confidence that he will play such innings at the international level?

^^^ Agree Bits and pieces cricketers lead you on the path to nowhere. The selection of Jadeja in a test team shows how steep the decline is. Eng went down the bits and pieces route in the 90s and had one of their worst teams and dreadful results. Sadly it seems with the braindead Dhoni and Fletcher combo Ind are also heading the same way.

he really is a great fielder though, on par with raina as india's best. had a good game in the first t20. its a balancing act for dhoni here, he can either go with somebody like rashwin and give up about 10 extra runs on the field, or go with jadeja. if he picks jadeja, he can't use him for more than 2 overs, because he gets hit for too many sixes, but at least you can make batsmen think before they take a run. the solution for dhoni is to use jadeja as 12th man and have one of the slow fielders fake injury in the middle of game so he can bring jadeja in.

Ever heard of limited overs per bowler, field restrictions, flatter pitches designed for entertainment, no worn pitches on day 2 plus, white ball, bouncer restriction. First of all Daniel Vettori was the primary spinner for New Zealand for several years. He also took 360 test wickets so he was a pretty decent bowler. You don't take many Test wickets if you're not a good bowler. It was actually only in his final few years that his batting really took off. For many years he was a bowler primarily and a good bowler at that. And Ravi Ashwin is a problem for India in Tests because he's being picked as a bowler but is just not threatening enough with the ball and can't build pressure for long spells.

Daniel Vettori was another league before his shoulder surgery. He was definitely top 3 among their batsman post 2005 or so. He was no freakin way bits and pieces and Jaddu can't be compared with him with either bat or ball.
