They shouldn't have made Badri the captain. They should have had someone else as captain and let badri play his own game and show if he can really bat in abroad. Here he would be putting lot of pressure on him as a captain i am sure.
What pressure ? They are facing 'emerging' players and not the mainstream.

Here is the first day's round-up of matches, both T20. Emerging Indians brush aside hosts Cricinfo staff July 21, 2009 India Emerging Players 4 for 102 (Rahane 43*, Nayar 30, George 2-9) beat Australian Institute of Sports 7 for 101 (Cooper 63*, Tyagi 2-15, Sangwan 2-20) by six wickets Scorecard India Emerging Players kicked off their Australian tour with a facile win over the Australian Institute of Sports with nine balls to spare in the opening match of the two-week tournament. The tourists made regular inroads and were lead by their new-ball pair of Sudeep Tyagi and Pradeep Sangwan, who picked up two wickets each as Australia were restricted to 101. Tom Cooper, the No. 3, held up Australia rather excellently with an unbeaten 63 from 57 balls but there was absolutely no support. The home side was rocked first ball when Tyagi took out Rob Quiney, and then slipped to 4 for 24 with each of India's first five bowlers finding success. Cooper's innings contained six fours and a pair of sixes and stood poles apart from the next highest contribution, 8. India themselves were in a spot of bother at 3 for 19, Peter George taking 2 for 9 in four overs, but Ajinkya Rahane and Abhishek Nayar steered the chase thereafter. Rahane finished unbeaten on 43 from 55 balls while Nayar (30 from 19) assisted capably. South Africa Emerging Players 130 for 4 (Davids 58*, van Jaarsveld 53) beat New Zealand Emerging Players 8 for 129 (de Grandhomme 49, Elgar 3-21) by six wickets Scorecard South Africa Emerging Players began their tournament on a high with a last ball, six-wicket win over New Zealand Emerging Players. Chasing 130, South Africa sealed a tight victory thanks to some clinical hitting from the captain Vaughn van Jaarsveld, who made 53 from 47 balls, and a steady unbeaten 58 from the opener Henry Davids. Having opted to bat first, New Zealand posted 9 for 129 thanks to Colin de Grandhomme's 49 from 34 balls. BJ Watling contributed 29 off 37 balls in an opening stand of 72 in 9.2 overs before being run out. Reece Young smashed an unbeaten 24 from 14 balls as slow left-armer Dean Elgar snared three victims to ruin the lower order. New Zealand's attack, led by Tim Southee's successive strikes in the third over, hurt South Africa's top order but crucially failed to dislodge Davids, who shored up the chase. van Jaarsveld, batting at No. 4, played an excellent hand to ease the chase and though he fell with 22 needed, Davids finished matters off. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Report seems to be written typically just by looking at the scorecards. I'll look forward to CA's reports from now on as CI are simply useless! Also I'm very disappointed that none of the selectors are there to watch these players perform and it shows how much importance they are attaching to the tournament this time. Apparently Tait IS playing for AIS, though it wasn't announced in their original squad. So watching a performance of these batsmen live against Tait and Quiney will be important.

Here is the Scorecard of the match.

A disappointing performance from Indians apart from Tyagi. It seems that the pitch did hep the seamers. But then failure of our seamers is even more glaring. And what would you say about the batsmen? South Africa Emerging Players 9 for 214 (Kuhn 46, Smit 45, Tyagi 6-37) beat India Emerging Players 204 (Saha 47, Theron 3-49) by 10 runs Scorecard South Africa Emerging Players downed India, after being kept to 214, to claim a ten-run win in their 50-overs match at the Fred Kratzman Oval in Brisbane. South Africa got off to a poor start after being put into bat, stumbling to 5 for 32 with Sudeep Tyagi, the right-arm seamer, accounting for all five wickets in a stunning opening spell. A recovery of sorts was launched by Farhaan Behardien (33 from 69 balls) and the wicketkeeper Heino Kuhn (46 from 58), who put on 75 for the sixth wicket. Then Daryn Smit and CJD de Villiers (39 not out) further lifted South Africa. Smit, after making 45 from 74 balls, became Tyagi's sixth wicket. India did well to keep South Africa to 214 but conceded 19 extras, including 12 wides, which proved decisive to the eventual result. de Villiers dismissed the opener M Vijay for 0 and India suffered a double jolt with the score on 37, as Juan Theron got Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli was run out first ball. S Badrinath (32) and Abhishek Nayar (33) added 78 for the fourth wicket but South Africa hit back through Thandi Tshabalala's two wickets, the second of which cut off Wriddhiman Saha who threatened to pull off victory with 47 from 78 balls. Theron too returned at the death to take two wickets and finish with 3 for 49. ------------------------------------------------------------------- The bold part shows how ineffective Kulkarni and Sangwan were. Useless!

not test match material cos hes a stroke player ? from what i have seen , hes the best player of spin india has ( better than GG ) ..comfortable both front back foot ..enuf to make him a good test player ...usual weakness against the rising ball like all indian players , but that can be rectified !

Kohli is not test match material' date=' technically suspect. Potential limted overs star though[/quote'] stop kidding yourself. Kohli's technique is all for test matches. He is a pretty good bat who can change gears according to the team's position in a particular game.

India has performed terribly in the second one dayer as well in which AIS has bowled them out for 130 in 41 overs. while chasing this small total, AIS are strongly placed at 96/2 in 26 overs and India looks set to lose this game too after losing to SA just a day back.

This match is covered live! Just see how the Indians boys squandered their chances: Over 10.3: Duval to Rahane, two runs, DROPPED, clubbed low and in the air down towards mid on. Niyas dives to his left but can't hold the tough chance. Over 10.4: Duval to Rahane, no run, OUT, drives hard outside off stump and has edged to keeper Triffitt!! So the dropped catch doesn't hurt the Australia, IND 1/40 It is quite clear that Rahane lost his concentration here. Over 11.2: Holland to Vijay, no run, OUT, looks to defend and he's been given out. The ball ballooned towards slip but it looks like he's been given LBW. Double-blow, IND 2/40 Over 14.5: Shukla to Badrinath, no run, OUT, short ball fended outside off stump has found the edge and Triffitt takes a great catch! The keeper dove high to his right and plucked the ball in his right glove from 1st slip! IND 3/59 Short ball weakness here which we had seen vs Aus A and Aus XI too last year when Badri had represented Ind A and BP XI repectively. Over 30.6: Niyas to Kohli, no run, OUT, gone this time, bowled! Kohli went for the big drive again and looks to have got an inside edge onto his stumps. IND 5/118 Why would you want to play risky big shots when the team is in such a precarious condition? Over 37.2: Smith to Tiwary, no run, OUT, launched away high in the ground but hasn't got enough on it. Shukla at long off runs around and takes a good catch. IND 8/131 Same problem?
