i think the debate of ponting and sachin should be laid to rest .. ponting has more silverware to show than sachin .. all bcos of a lacklustre team sachin has played with all these years. sachin cant even catch ponting on these records.. ponting will be known as best for this generation. its a fact and we got to accept it whether we like it or not.

ponting is a jack@ss in terms of behaviour,but hes one helluva batsman.can moake a mockery of best fast bowlers wen in form.struggles against quality spin tho. but he is NOT better than SRT

Sachin, who according to you fails in big matches, has scored 6 100s and 12 50s in 48 final and semi final matches in ODIs and in fact last 4 finals which India have won, Sachin has been the one who has set the platform. Ricky on the other hand has 2 100s and 7 50s in 46 finals and semifinals in ODIs. It's just that he plays for a better team and when he fails there are others who see his team home and therefore dont remember Punter's failures. Whereas with Sachin, its like if he fails in the finals, India just pack up their bags making him look like the villain. I know stats dont tell you the story but 18 50+ scores in 48 finals & semis with a strike rate of 86 and 9 50+ scores in finals and semis at a strike rate of 81....I wonder whom you are calling as " a selfish player" who doesnt do well on the big stage. maybe my understanding of the word selfish is very different from you.
