coffee_rules
Sehwag is like Gilchrist and Jayasuriya as an opener. Expecting consistency from him is not right and does not fit into his role in the team. Baaki bande kaunsa paap kiye hain...to expect them to be consistent. Link to comment
kabira
^thats what I am referring, he has talent to make big 100s but he is not doing it. He was consistent last yaer played some big knocks. But right now seems to get out in 30s and 40s, and this 30s and 40s will be useful in middle order and morover we don't have anyone to use batting powerplay. so as soon as sehwag arrives, take batting powerplay. rahulrulezz
and the daggers are out...Sehwag is most destructive and explosive opening batsman in the world. Period!! Link to comment
The Outsider
Baaki bande kaunsa paap kiye hain...to expect them to be consistent. Any successful line up will have it's share of reliable, consistent players like Dravid, Dhoni, Kallis and it's share of destructive, inconsistent ones like Gilchrist, Jayasuriya, Gibbs, Sehwag. Sehwag has a certain role to play in the team - get the side off to a flier and get stuck in for the long one every few matches. Gilchrist and Jayasuriya were also inconsistent and have similar numbers and innings as Sehwag does - they were not shifted to the middle order because they were fulfilling the team role. If our problem is late order hitting that does not mean you take out one of the most destructive openers from the top order and place him there. Link to comment
Sooda
If anything its worse making brisk 30's in the middle overs when you need batsmen to knuckle down and accumulate- at least at one end. Sehwags not going to do that we have Yuv and Raina who can score quickly with MSD the 'anchor' and at the top Viru and/or SRT to score quick with SRT and/or Gambhir the anchor. The batting lineup is -in theory- balanced as it is. Link to comment

We neeed to win by hook or crook and our team is already selected and this is the best option we have Link to comment

We need someone who can chip in with a quick fire 20 or 30 on a regular basis. Bhajji can always deliver. But his unorthodox game means uncertain results. Not reliable. Link to comment
jf1gp_1
A number of bowlers who open in both test and ODI switched to bowling first change in ODIs; iits a case of how to maximize ones utility. Incase of sehwag moving down the order shouldnt be a problem given that he was a middle order batsman to begin with; with batting powerplay; change of ball after 35th over and Indias history of not making the most of final overs sehwag moving down isnt a bad idea Link to comment
shubham45
shewag is the backbone on india shewag i s a splendid and a marvelous player the start the gives cannot be given by sachin or gambhir,............... ma batting order shewag praveen kumar harbhajan sachin raina dhoni yuvraj ........ .. 11)gambhir Link to comment
Lord
hes not in bad form.i feel he feels like a junior n plays too freely wen SRT is his partner.wenever GG is his partner he takes on the responsibilty n scores big.he needs to be told that he is supposed to give blazing start for 1st 6-7 overs but after that he needs to knuckle down Link to comment
Temujin Khaghan
and the next time sehwag scores a century there will threads on whether if he is the greatest opener india ever had along with sachin... Link to comment
champ
ppl are not realizing when sehwag has given the starts like this , our team makes big scores .. i would say sehwag is a unselfish player looking to help the team always .. but i think one in 5 matches he needs to be selfish and make some runs for himself .. pls realize this person is a gem :icflove: Link to comment
