Texan Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 He bowls a good line and has good subtle variations. His batting I feel is better suited to being a number 5 or 6 and not 7 or 8 since he doesn't seem very keen at slogging over the top. I would also think of him as a test prospect.
cowboysfan Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 the problem is jadeja's order in the batting line up is wrong and has already been discussed and it is not going to change because Dhoni is not going to demote himself or the lower order batsmen for Jadeja.Jadeja has to earn this by batting consistently well.
hatja_tau Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 ..hate him all you want, but the guy is bowling gems for atleast the last 10 ODI's...good going lad!
Temujin Khaghan Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 his bowling is indespensible for WC11 sachin sehwag gg kohli uv dhoni raina jadeja bhajji zaheer nehra
flamy Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 ..hate him all you want' date=' but the guy is bowling gems for atleast the last 10 ODI's...good going lad![/quote'] egg on my face, but i'll happily lick it. hope he continues this way.
cowboysfan Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 it is an interesting selection when bhajji comes back.one can argue that yusuf and jadeja offer more in the one day game on patta wickets.
vvvslaxman Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 it is an interesting selection when bhajji comes back.one can argue that yusuf and jadeja offer more in the one day game on patta wickets. You are dead right. Don't want to lose either of Yusuf and Jadeja on these types of surfaces.
Karan114 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 it is an interesting selection when bhajji comes back.one can argue that yusuf and jadeja offer more in the one day game on patta wickets. It is a valid point, on these sorts of wickets they are more useful.
spectre Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Ravindra Jadeja is very underrated here Unlike the Kohlis and Rainas who are pushed to the pedestal after a few brilliant innings, this guy always gets brickbats for his slow batting. The same people don't realize that this lad has been our best ODI bowler in the recent past On this patta wickets with dew and small grounds, this guy has bowled two outstanding spells and did the same in the last few series Give this man the credit. He has been brilliant well ahead of the rest of the pack Whole India calls out for allrounders, and when you really have one, people dont even realize it Instead they harp about the Crapthan who has gone into oblivion Its a shame that he will be missing IPL
Ram Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Dont be too swayed by the performance of the spinners against this South African batting unit. A better batting unit would have absolutely creamed the spin combo of Jadeja and Yusuf. The control that Bhajji offers when we're bowling 2nd, esp. during high chases, is hugely under-rated and priceless. But yes, this is turning out to be an extremely interesting selection conundrum. Jadeja has shown himself to be a very useful 2nd spinner, a good fielder and a reasonable bat capable of contributing vital 20-25 runs, coming in at no.8. Yusuf is also finally showing signs that he is tempering his shot selection. Given that the WC is going to be played in the subcontinent, his blitzkrieg batting could just be the trump-card that could propel us into the knock out stages.
Ram Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 The problem was his initial branding. When he first came into the team, he was touted as the hard-hitting batsmen who could also bowl some useful overs of left-arm spin. Then, when people actually saw him bat, they were slightly annoyed by the total lack of any power, in his so-called 'power game'. But now, people have begun to realize that he is primarily a steady left-arm spinner who can not only score useful runs at no.8, but also add excellent value in the field. But given that the team rates Yusuf batting abilities highly, he will probably left to carry the drinks, once Bhajji is back.

And his bowling is not really tested Harbhajan as ODI bowler :hysterical: Jadeja would be our best ODI spinner now
Laaloo Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 world cup Sachin Sehwag Gambhir Yuvraj Dhoni Raina Irfan Jadeja harbhajan ZAK PK

flamy Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 world cup Sachin Sehwag Gambhir Yuvraj Dhoni Raina Irfan Jadeja harbhajan ZAK PK can't get better than that i suppose
cowboysfan Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 what the heck?.when did irfan even come into the picture?.i dont think he is even on the selectors radar atm.

There's no way, Dhoni will EVER go into an ODI match with just 2 medium pacers. based of what, this one match We have seen this one off hits earlier as well, He has to perform consistently well at Intl level to cement his place @ No.7/8. And his bowling is not really tested Harbhajan as ODI bowler :hysterical: Jadeja would be our best ODI spinner now You've obviously not been watching too much of our ODI cricket in the recent past, if you're going to laugh at Bhajji's bowling and the control he offers. Yusuf's batting abilities in the subcontinent were never in doubt. In fact, it was only when we went to New Zealand (for a tour) and England (for the WC T20) did his batting begin to unravel with the extra pace and bounce. But in Indian conditions, he's an extremely dangerous hitter, esp. if he's willing to put some thought into his batting. And the world cup is in India. But beyond anything, there's no way any current Indian captain will leave out Bhajji out of an Indian team. Often times, he's the single biggest force that propels the entire with his aggression and adrenalin.
Show_stopper Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 IMHO its still a two horse race for the #7 spot between Jadeja & Yusuf.
spectre Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 You've obviously not been watching too much of our ODI cricket in the recent past, if you're going to laugh at Bhajji's bowling and the control he offers. hehe, all dartbhajan critics have vanished just after one match. you guys need to be more affirmative Restrictive yes, but who is going to take you the wickets, considering most of our pacers are fit for nothing What he does in ODIs is to lash out darts. How well he ruined the T20 WC matches cant be forgotten so soon Yusuf's batting abilities in the subcontinent were never in doubt. In fact, it was only when we went to New Zealand (for a tour) and England (for the WC T20) did his batting begin to unravel with the extra pace and bounce. But in Indian conditions, he's an extremely dangerous hitter, esp. if he's willing to put some thought into his batting.. Thats the whole point right. You want your No.7 to also play according to the situation as well and not mindless slogging You saw how he got out the last match
