hhunaeh Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 star wars is a sci fi fantasy series. The older versions have good stories especially empire strikes back and jedi returns. There is nothing not to get in it. It is supposed to be fun and they are not explaining philosophy or anything like that. All the movies were touched up and released again in 90s or 2000s. The touched up version is what you get on torrents. I have seen them and special effects are not so bad, just go through the comments and make sure you are downloading the modified version.

Not a big fan of sci-fi, but thinking of following the series before episode 7 Although he has an awesome taste in movies, can't take Yoda-e's word on Star Wars, as he is a sci-fi movie/series freak. It was alright. Older movies have good plot which makes up for the lack of FX, newer movies have slightly decent FX, but not as good plot, so I liked the older movies better. My main enjoyment came from seeing all the internet memes come alive :D It is a big part of American culture.

The new triology is actually a prequel original triology. The first Star wars totally changed the hollywood. The light sabers and the star destroyers are a pinnacle of special effects at the time like the Terminator's villan T1000, the photorealistic CGI in Jurrassic Park, anything in Lord of the rings and today's Avatar. Before that hollywood has stop motion effects and people in rubber suits. Just watch the original clash of the titans and jason & the argonauts to get an idea. That's what made the original triology immensely popular at that time. The movie still kicks bums of Indian ones in terms of CGI. The problem with the original triology is the entire world copied and cloned the concept numerous times so even the story may look old now. The prequel triology is super cheesy but has good CGI. So watch it for the sake of knowing the story. Casting choices like Christopher Lee and Samuel Jackson saved the franchise.

I was not impressed with the Star Wars CG. I watched it purely for pop culture

I read the manga many months back when i saw the trailer so the movie seemed ok to me, without the manga background it would have been better i am sure and there were some stupid people in the theater laughing every time tom cruise woke up :mad:
