flamy Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 It looks a bit cr@p to be honest it has to be, it is bollywood :dontknow:
achilles Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Wonderful film. I have no effin idea why Hrithik should be taking these dumbass reviews so seriously. The movie has an out-and-out Mexican storyline - Hot chori, tharki munda, bank "chori" karke ban gaya gunda, hot scenes, amazing action... fultoo paisa vasool boss. 4/5 from my side :two_thumbs_up:. 1 mark cut for stupid subtitles, that too in Hindi.

coffee_rules Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I think every critic goes to the same school (is there is a critic school). They talk about characterisation, chemistry and content. Most see movies in the theatre to have a good time and tell others if they liked it or not. Nobody cares for these 2-bit reviews and for meaningful cinema.
achilles Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 That means its a pathetic film. :dontknow: 1/5 Critics had panned Sholay. 'nuff said B->

Yes. Quentin Tarantino is also brave actually, to make a film like Inglorious Basterds. Most of the world didn't think it was a good film. Yet, his boy won an Oscar and the team won a few too. Kites might or might not have a similar fate with the Indian & Overseas Award shows :hatsoff:

P.S - not that i hate the transformers series...
Zap_Brannigan Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Tarantino is an overrated quack, IMO. They are stylish and have good dialogues but i think most of his cult following is because his movies are different than others and not because they are good movies. Inglorious bastards was good, not Oscar worthy good(neither was Hurt locker), compared to all his other movies because it had a full story told in a proper comprehensible way. Sholay was a bad movie. Melodramatic characters, loud villains, too good to be true heroes, comical villains lair etc. Sholay could have easily been a Tarantino movie, if it was cut into parts and jumbled around. Before everybody gets on my case on disparaging the most celebrated movie and director in ICF, i will repeat that these are just my opinions. Maybe i should say something bad about Avatar too to complete the trifecta. I like simple, subtle movies. I also like unpretentious movies like Transformers that dont pretend to be anything but entertainment. Kites, from the trailers, just seems to be another badly made hindi movie with nothing special. All hindi movies these days seems to have a goal of achieving lot of bullet points i.e. Mexican leading lady, white girl in item number, cameo by SRK, hollywood crew who made a very famous hollywood movie etc etc. I still havent seen 3 idiots, but it seems like a long time since a good simple movie came out of bollywood. Munnabhai was the last of its kind.

Watch Johnny Gaddar- it didn't pretend to be anything but a straightforward thriller with a simple story but good direction Black Friday was another good one but that was more of a docu drama Although I enjoyed 3 Idiots it is definitely gimmicky & anything but unpretentious Taare Zameen par was a good effort
suraj Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 poora trailer dekha saala topless scene toh aaya hi nahin
gaurav92 Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 My friends have seen the movie, they say its an average movie :headshake: 2/5
Zap_Brannigan Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 Kites made it to #10 in the US weekend boxoffice..probably the first time a bollywood movie made it to the top 10 in US. Edit: Checked. Seems so. Previous highest was Om Shanit Om at #11 with 1.7 million $. While kites made much less, only 1 million, it was generally a slow weekend even with Shrek getting only 70 million compared to the 120 million Shrek 3 made.
