f2000560 Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 What's the point of this thread? How would you conclude? What are YOU going to do after 'finding out' what went wrong? Really, people openings tens of threads for purposes that serve nothing and will inevitably end in vain is so annoying. It's only a waste a time for people who visit ICF. I am not sure if I am the only one here who feels ICF is going the way of you-know-which forum, where people open multiple threads for match fixing, finding the match ka mujra, how the selector is the chief culprit, how the board is the chief culprit, how the captain is a fit for nothing dumbass, more importantly how a player who was not selected was a sure winner who would have brought the cup to India, etc. If this is the direction the forum is going to go, then sane people might not frequently visit here or not visit at all. I know that's how many of us feel about the other forum that I am talking about. I know it is not necessary to talk about that forum here, but that forum is a clear example of what this forum is slowly turning into. ++

Dooks Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 I am just sad that our thick- headed captain did not change (much like stubborn Rafa Benitez of Liverpool FC) after the loss of the first game against Aus. 1. Firstly, we could tell Murali Vijay plus others can't play short stuff. OK, so what he should have done for the game against WI, is promoted Yuvraj (who plays international cricket and should be good enough to deal with short stuff) to opening with GG. That way perhaps, Yuvraj may have got him form back (perhaps not but there was nothing to lose since he hasn't done anything in T20, including IPL). 2. He should have dropped Jadeja because we all could tell the guy is not good enough for international cricket yet. 3. He should have batted first against WI (OK, hind-sight is better) but everyone knows, bat first in T20 for maximum chance of winning in West Indies 4. He should have tried Vinay Kumar on a faster track - don't know if it would have made any difference at all but at least worth trying. 5. Taking point 1 in account, he could have dropped his best mate Yuvraj to make way for someone else. Yuvraj has been out of form for a long time now. 6. Finally, I think 5 is enough. It's not going to make difference to the Indian team. They don't take blind bit of notice of what others think anyway. They will continue in their merry way without learning a thing from this debacle.

Murali Vijay plus others can't play short stuff - That is the whole team. Replace them and there won't be any left to even play the non short stuff. He batted first against Srilanka, and we did jackshit
Fontaine Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 It's hilarious watching psuedo fans try and grab any excuse to look for blame or some culprit. Big problems DON'T have easy solutions that can be fixed by a quick five step plan! :) If it was so then South Africa would have 7 batsmen that can dominate against spin but they don't. No matter how much international cricket they play against guys like Murali/Bhajji on turning tracks they still look hopeless against good spin bowling. It's the same way with Indian batsmen. Even in the IPL on slowish pitches it was clear almost every young Indian player looked a fool against short pitched deliveries. The problem can and should be fixed. Some of us have been saying for years that the BCCI need to implement more stringent controls to create more sporting pitches. Until this is done young players won't learn to hook and pull properly and young fast bowlers will struggle to bowl on flat slow decks. Take it or leave it, that's the solution. Everything else, including shuffling openers, dropping one or two players etc HAS ALL BEEN TRIED AND ONE BEFORE with little to no success. I'm not happy the India lost so badly, but I am glad that their technical problems against short pitched bowling have once again been exposed. We're very lucky to have guys like SRT/Dravid/Laxman/Sehwag in the test team that were good enough to adapt and learn quickly, but most cricketers don't have that kind of talent and need to develop and practice at their game from an early age and that's why investing in domestic cricket with proper pitches is the best way forward.
Gunner_Mania Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 then wats the point of a forum.. we can just read stuff in cricinfo.. Just because you have a forum what is the point in starting a thread for every thought that runs through a posters mind. I don't think anybody is question about why a question is being raised. The point is about too many threads about same things. They are just repetitive and worse still is this name calling business and throwing accusations of match fixing every time we lose a match.

DomainK Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Lets not blame it on select individuals or particular weaknesses. For example, Jadeja- he is new, he proved his talent in domestic cricket and IPL and earned his position. It's common for a new player to make mistakes and succumb to pressure. Thats where seniors step in, take control and inspire the new player to play fearlessly. I know that he played bad, but we cant blame him for the way we got knocked out. A good professional team knows how to overcome such problems. It's a team that played bad lost. The team must collectively take responsibility. Kumar Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 crappy bowling crappy captiancy crappy death bowling as well crappy vijay crappy IPL crappy short pitched bowling crappy pathan Realistically the only two good things out of that tournamet IMO are raina and sharma I would like to see them in a test side soon! the BCCI favoured pathan just because of his IPL innings, well quite frankly he is a waste of space, im sure sir agarkar would have been much more use! If you look at our fast bowlers, our ataack has decreased rapidly since a few 3/4 years ago where is sultan of swing pathan, ICC T20 king RP singh, sreesanth ( well to an extent), Munaf Patel? I even think balaji would have done better than nehra and khan in this tournament!:winky: dhoni's tactics of picking spin will not work always especially outside Sub continent and more to the point in a T20 tournament??? Unless the T20 ICC tournament is in sub continet, we can forget our chances of a good place in any T20 tournament!! well even after that performance, I hope for a better year for the test and odi squad and stress that ppl like sharma, raina get their chance!:icflove:
