asterix Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 No, Dhoni is being sacked(if at all he is) because he has not done much in ICC events and any other events involving more than 3 teams since 2007. It has nothing to do with 'Tontee Tontee'. He is making critical errors on the field and it has started affecting India's campaigns in most of the events and it's not any more a joke that we can wish away or hope he will stop making those errors of judgement.
Sid Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 :hysterical: :hysterical: They want to sack Dhoni just because we failed in tontee tontees. :hehe: After Ganguly he is the best captain we have. Giving captaincy to Sehwag isn't a good idea he won't bat freely after that. "Mujhe bhooley toh nahi - Saurav Ganguly" :woot: :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
zubinpepsi Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 The DD duo cannot be given Captaincy. They are not reliable. The Party going group too cannot be given the captaincy. Time is right to give Raina the responsibility. Raina shows intent to win and has good temperament and has confidence of Dhoni too. Dhoni will not mind Raina taking the reigns. I'm sure other prima-donnas will shut up and put up as Raina does performs most of the time. So Dhoni to be captain of Test team and CSK.. :two_thumbs_up: And Raina captains the ODI and T20 teams.. ++
Sachinism Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 As much as I like Raina, I don't know if he's ready to be captain. He's playing well, but he may suddenly go through a rough patch as well, then what? Change captain again?
Sachinism Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Mahender Singh Dhoni, who is facing flak for Indian team's poor performance at the World Twenty20, has found a steadfast supporter in Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan who says he is "appalled" at the way the cricketer is being targeted. After the Indian team's early exit from the tournament, the team, particularly Dhoni, has been criticised by authorities, public and the media. But Amitabh feels it is not right to target a sportsperson like this. "I am appalled at the way MS Dhoni has been targeted. A week ago he was the apple of your eye and within seconds, in a show smacking of frivolity, you have through deliberate and unjustifiable cut, paste technology, made him into the creator of all that ails Indian cricket. "This is most unjust and unfair. It is easy to sit behind closed air-conditioned doors and draw up plans on how cricket needs to be played. But get on to the pitch and feel the pain and agony and stress and pressures of a game before you draw conclusions," the 67-year-old posted on his blog. The actor, who is a self-confessed cricket fan, admits he is also disappointed with the team's performance, but doesn't believe in killing their morale by constant criticism. "We are all very disappointed with the outcome of the T20 championships, but don't destroy the spirit of these magnificent athletes. From the early hours of the morning, the electronic (media) has only crucified the team and done nothing else. Don't kill their morale for god's sake,"' he said. "If I was heading a channel, I would repeatedly keep showing in my broadcast, the glorious victory of the year when we won the World Championships, rather than dwell on our players in their weaker moments. Come on Dhoni! You can do it. I have faith in you and your wonderful band of brothers in the team. Regroup, regain and win," he added. Things are getting serious :nervous: lol
rkt.india Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 this is great news sehwag is an attacking captain..and will go for wickets..rather than dhoni's defensive, containing tactics and maybe, dhoni with the burden off his shoulders, would get back to his hitting ways to attack u need wicket taking bowlers first....there is no mean to be attacking and giving 2 boundaries per over without getting a wicket by bowling crap bowlers we have
someone Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Remember Time to get stuffs into perspective, First,It was Dhoni by whom we won the T20 World Cup because of his trust and unorthodox decisions. He got praised for us as it was brilliant captaincy shown by him, he repeats the same thing this t20,now it is a stupid decision. I am not defending him, but remember he won the world cup and records say he has done well. Second, blaming parties and IPL is nonsense, everyone parties probably more so the Aussies and look at their record in cricket. As long as you have a balance between work and play, there should be no problem. Next, IPL have provided extra time and practice for our players to get form but it was a pity players like GG, UV threw it away. Yet, people are blaming IPL, remember the benefits from IPL far outweights the disadvantages of IPL for cricketers. Third, people talk about bad selection but like Harsha said it is not like we left some sobers in India, and oddly enough people are starting to regard IPL as basics for selection( have they forgotten Gony) and also the squad selected was the best Indian team who had played for the last 6 months, It is stupid of people to think impulse. In the end there were only 2 reasons, first , the opponents were better and the other reason we were poor due to poor technique.
asterix Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Living in past is a bad thing. Gambhir was the best batsmen in the T20 WC 2007. Since then lot's water has flown under yamuna bridge. Players have become Rockstars, earned huge money etc. The same Gambhir was heavily criticised for his commitment by commentators, experts, past cricketers. Let not lose the perspective because of past laurels. The key to success in these they of events is to have new sets of players replacing the previous ones or those who play in other formats too. Also have to look into the track record of team winning International events comprising more than 2 teams. Can't have ostrich like attitude and wish away the problems concerning the team, leadership, attitude, commitment, team selection etc.
vvvslaxman Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 He is still the best for ODis. But for T20s they might go with completely rookie sides led by someone like Kohli.
hari504504 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 He is still the best for ODis. But for T20s they might go with completely rookie sides led by someone like Kohli. why ? Dhoni is the best we have in all 3 formats as a player and captain (one player). He is young and will learn from his mistakes... Kohli will eventually takeover the mantle from Dhoni in maybe 3-4 years.

Kohli will eventually takeover the mantle from Dhoni in maybe 3-4 years. He is far too stubborn. May work in ODIs. But in t20 games even one bad over can completely alter the game. You don't make bowling changes randomly and hope to work every time. Because batsmen are more alert to situations like who to target which over to launch in T20. It has evoloved. Batsmen don't get caught by surprise with unorthodox moves. They go after the bowlers right away. Dhoni is still banking on it. Every player was lethargic, disinterested. He just was not able to motivate these guys to focus which is not good. T20 is a different paced game. And it has improved significantly. We have lost 9 out of last 11 T20 games against top teams. He either doesn't take seriously or does something very wrong. Our team is not that terrible.

You say Dhoni is stubborn, ok so you want some flexibility in t20, well we did do that in our last match, yet lost it. Just because we lost, it does not make a captain bad neither does a win make him good, it is overall where we are doing well.

India has been losing in T20 left and right for far too long. His bowling changes like having Yusuf pathan bowl 19th over, not coming upto the stumps for even medium pacers is not really good. He was completely left stunned time and again. He didn't come up with an on the fly strategy to counter the assault.

I remember the finals when Pollard seemed like he was running away with the match single handedly.. He placed the fielder at mid-off straighter and got the bowler to bowl back of length in the slot, Pollard hit the next ball straight into the fielder's palms.. A lot of factors contribute to our T20 record...lack ofeven decent T20 bowlers is one of em...infact the biggest!...there;s nothing a captain can do if this is what he is given...I doubt if the likes of Steve Waugh could've done any better with this bowling line-up. He does keep faith in his players and gives them chances even when they're getting absolutely smashed(at the batting or bowling crease). But that may not always be bad - we may unearth a gem sometimes (and sometimes we unearth Jadeja..). Infact I'd blame our bowling..not our batting for this show, If our bowling was even 20% better than it is we may have had a different result against Australia,WEstIndies and Srilanka..

No he repeatedly allows teams to chase big totals with ridiculous ease. He doesn't come up with good field positions even in ODis. One of the worst i have seen was against Srilanka when they chased 414 runs. They reached 328 runs in around 35 overs. Bowlers had to pull that one off for us at the death. He just allows the match to drift away far too long. This happened in NZ also when Southee and Mills made 97 runs in 7 overs and India was powerless. I have seen bowling attack as worse as this before. But those days batting was not that strong. So captains had no choice to come up with ideas to stop the onslaught. But Dhoni is not really proactive once his batsmen pile up lot of runs. HE just allows things to drift away until it almost bites him. Bad approach. Munaf Patel bowled yorker after yorker under Warne. Because if he didn't Warne literally schooled him. Mishra is the worst affected when it comes to field sets. He had some crazy field sets for him even in Tests.
veer Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 dhoni is not getting sacked.. TOI is useless.. stop giving them too much attention.. by the way, I have been checking out twitter these days and following few ppl like zak and yuvi.. check out their pages.. plus raj deep sardesai .. he is saying ithis is a baseless story..
UmarAkmal Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Dhoni is becoming arrogant and showed no remorse after getting thrashed yet again in another World Cup. Look at Gayle, he apologized to his fans after WI ouster from the WC. Dhoni insulted the Indian fans by saying that they do come to streets all the time ......we play cricket all year round and blamed stupid excuses like IPL parties...... India needs a new captain in ODIs & 20/20.
