mastana Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 This guy always come into the team as someone's replacement. Still he does his job very well. Kudos to Karthik. :two_thumbs_up:
Sid Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 sometimes you feel why always he comes when someone is injured but a lack of good quality opening batsman helps him comeback again and again as he might get out in 30s and 40s but he is someone you can rely on to face quality pace bowlers without embarrassing himself and also one of few good pullers in indian team

And 90% of the time he isn't sure of his place in the Indian team.
zubinpepsi Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 what i like abt him is his attitude.. hes always bubbly and cheerful.. u dont see him moody or sulky in the ground... he comes across as a complete team man..
yoda Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Well he needs some big scores. This finals performance will do him a lot of good in terms of being in the mix.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 i am always a supporter of dinesh karthik, this guy is the ultimate team player. i'd pick him in every single indian squad very classy batsman too, plays some amazing shots. take a look at those 3 boundaries he hit off hat trick hero maharoof's bowling today...:two_thumbs_up:
Karan114 Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Well he needs some big scores. This finals performance will do him a lot of good in terms of being in the mix. He has a lot going for him as a batsman, technically it takes a lot to open in Test cricket in places like England and South Africa and succeed, and he can play an array of shots. It is why his frequent dismissals in 20's and 30's are so frustrating. Hopefully with this excellent man of the match performance in a tournament final, he has broken through and we will see big scores more consistently from him.
Texy Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Feel bad for DK but he needs to stop getting out in 20s n 30s .....he's a fine player in form, plays with passion....something that UV used to do
veer Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 what i like abt him is his attitude.. hes always bubbly and cheerful.. u dont see him moody or sulky in the ground... he comes across as a complete team man.. i second that..
Lord Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 I like him we should lock him as a reserve opener/keeper for the WC
THX_1138 Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 maybe have him replace a lardo in the middle order?
Ram Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 There's no doubting his talent/committment, but the consistency is sorely lacking. You couldnt possibly command a permanent place in an Indian team that has names like Sachin, Viru, Gautam Yuvraj, MS, Raina etc, with that kind of sporadic spurts. And watching him bat, you get a sense he still hasnt fully understood his attacking game yet. His aggression does not seem natural, but oddly forced. He doesnt have a 'go-to' banker shot that can fetch him runs, so he tries all sorts of quirky shots and gets dismissed for frequent low scores. But he's the kind of guy who can easily score 90 ball 125 against a top-class bowling attack almost out of the blue. He's definitely one for the keeps, but its about time he started turning promise into performance. In the international circuit, the odd 50 laced with a handful of amazing shots isnt gonna win him much respect. You need to be consistent, series after series, summer after summer, against team after team. P.S; From a personal standpoint, desperately hope he's traded to CSK next season, it about time he back 'home'
f2000560 Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 He is still second choice till Dhon is around but it would be a lot better if we have a reliable back up and thats exactly what he needs to be more of Reliable !
Rajan Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 P.S; From a personal standpoint, desperately hope he's traded to CSK next season, it about time he back 'home' Chances are very small for that , to happen. in the TNCA politics, N.Srinivasan heads a faction in power and his group controls- Jolly rovers, Vijay cc,kohinoor cc and has the support of Alwarpet and a few other First division teams. the representatives of these clubs vote in TNCA secretary and president elections and have been helping N.Srinivasan of India cements win time and again... the other strong faction is MRF backed Globe trotters team which has backers from mainly anti- N.Srini clubs, with SPIC AC Muthaiah supporting behind the scenes. in the local first division matches, Dinesh Karthik represents MRF-Globe trotters where as India cements ' teams like Jolly rovers, Vijay CC are archrivals to Dinesh Karthik. u would not believe the strange distance maintained between the players of these 2 camps even when they are playing for Tamil Nadu ranji trophy or south zone teams.the TNCA politics would put to shame even BCCI-IPL politics... TA Shekar the mainstay of MRF Pace foundation moved away to delhi daredevils when he found that India cements won the chennai franchise and his expertise would not be required.he picked Dinesh karthi and Yo Mahesh with him to DD. the CSK guys dont even talk to DK even when both teams fly together during IPL matches. that is very odd.now that TA is with Mumbai indians , DK will continue to be with DD rather than joining the CSK ranks.

Hmm, I dunno how much of what you say is actually true, but definitely interesting nevertheless.

Interesting stuff....but didn't we just see MV and DK enjoying their company during T20 WC on the TV quite often?
Andy Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Technically much beter than the Kohlis and Sharmas. All he needs is to keep scoring 50s , 60s (if not more) more consistently.
achilles Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Dinesh does a great job with the limited chances he gets. Dinesh Karthik is the best wicketkeeper in India, not the best wicketkeeper batsman. Laaloo Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 ^^WTF are you on about? Dinesh Karthik is not the best wicketkeeper in India. Dhoni is better than him at wicketkeeping by a mile. Now if you say, he's the best wicketkeeper available after Dhoni, then yes I agree. But I doubt you have any cricketing knowledge. From the looks of it, you go around every other thread and post utter nonsense without even watching Cricket in the first place.
