Lets make no mistake about it sometimes KKD pulls of some stunners and some times his keeping is below average! We saw it in SL series in Lanka back in 2008. Before 2008 KKD looked a beter keeper than Dhoni.

Yes. After 2008, he's hardly kept for us. Hence, we have people choosing to air their preferences, which may be flawed, spice it up with a lot of crap and forget that just like them, everyone has a bloody opinion !

Part of the blame goes to KKD as well. Laxman was used like this at Test level. Then he said "enough is enough i ain't gonna open again". His career started looking upwards only after that. Similarly KKD has to take himself seriously and treat himself as an important match winner instead of being a support player. For that he has to play a bit selfishly at times. He averages 39.64 in matches where India won. Every time he scored a 50 India won. He has crossed 40 ten times. 8 of the matches resulted in win. He is a result oriented batsman.

Even in domestic matches, challenger series, etc his keeping kept going down hill. Perhaps DK started working harder on his batting and forgot about his keeping. But off late barring the tri series in lanka, he has done well coming in as a reserve batsman in the team whenver someone has got injured. In the last 20 innings, he has reached the double figures on 18 occassions , 11 times wnt past 30 and out of those just 3 times he went past 50. So partly he should blame himself for not converting those starts to something substantial. Hoefulyl the final perfomance yesterday will give him confidence to start putting biggers scores for the team.

Considering Sehwag is still not 100% i would rather have Karthik open instead of vijay who is still settling in test cricket. Now i hate srikanth, when is he getting out ?

I think this time other zone selectors put their foot down. This is not a very important series. India and Lanka meet so often. They win some, we win some. There are so many contenders/players that selectors have to distribute them in T20, ODI and Test teams so that most of them get chance. Saha will definitely sit on bench. Dhoni is playing all the matches. There was no point in having KKD on bench for 3 matches..KKDs best chances are in ODIs and T20s..Saha has no realistic chances in ODIs and T20s. So they tried to 'accomodate' him in the Test bench.

^ cant be that sure about injuries' date='remember Nagpur fiasco[/quote'] Yes, there is a risk but selectors will keep on taking those risks. In a vast country like India, regional aspirations have to be assuged..But now you cannot always blame selectors too. There's too much of backroom politics which goes on in BCCI. You'll never know whose candidate is W Saha. Also there was discussion about Tamilnadu cricket politics involving N Srinivasan. So KKDs non selection could be due to some politics too. Look at Jadeja's selection in limited overs teams. He is clearly backed by Niranjan Shah. So it's not even fair to blame selectors, coach and Captain...

Dhoni/Kirsten combo are way too influential to be done away with ..by anyone...
