Sachinism Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Swann lost his ranking as #1 ODI bowler to Morne Morkel
BeautifulGame Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Well he isnt anymore in ODIs http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011/oct/26/graeme-swann-rankings-morne-morkel
deathmonger Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Is Swann the new Harbhajan? At least Bhajji had a good 5-6 years. Swann had 1 or 2.
Old guy Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 good spinner way better then any subcontinent spinner on less helpful tracks atleast he is consistent unlike ashwin
The Realist Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Average spinner who just stands out because the state of spin bowling around the world is so poor. Jarrod Kimber the Aussie journalist said the same thing last year. If he was that good he would not have been dumped from the Eng side for the best part of a decade.
Cricket Tragic Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Average spinner who just stands out because the state of spin bowling around the world is so poor. Jarrod Kimber the Aussie journalist said the same thing last year. If he was that good he would not have been dumped from the Eng side for the best part of a decade. Couple of reasons: 1) He acted like a moron on his first tour (which included getting punched by Gough, missing the team bus because he was sleeping...) 2) Fletcher apparently didn't like him. The move to Notts helped him.
singhprakash72 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 good spinner way better then any subcontinent spinner on less helpful tracks atleast he is consistent unlike ashwin + 1 ...cleaner action than most SC bowlers and classical off spinner mold.
maniac Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Currently the best Spinner in the world without a doubt. Ajmal's action is too shady and will always be debated but Swann overtakes him in this regard.
Crookbond Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Probably, he is but not a clear winner in any case. Moreover, I doubt he has the complete armory. I like the air and the attitude he has to cricket. He's a colorful character of the game. We need to him to play as long as possible, we don't get such characters in this day and age. Some of his one-liners are just too good.
Crookbond Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Swann wins England's MVP award according to PCA.
maverick451 Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 What makes him so effective is that he's also very good in England on the first few days of a test match when the ball doesnt spin much, he's gets more drift and dip than other spinners.
Crookbond Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Not against the Indian team. Check the numbers.
Cricket Tragic Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 People like his attitude? He is the biggest t**t. Fine bowler though.
Crookbond Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Graeme Swann is still wicketless having bowled 42 overs (252 deliveries). The most is 384 balls by Jack Young v South Africa in 1949.
