Cricketics Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 huh?Sehwag didnt even play in that series I actually meant the best batsman on tour. When he smacked hell out of lanka in test series. Then Kohli joined the odi squad and played some crucial knocks when we were failing not able to figure out Mendis.
Gunner_Mania Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Kohli's first series was as an opener and that too in Sri Lanka only when he came in for Tendulkar who rested in the series. He was our best batsman in the series after Sehwag. I looked up that series. He had scores of - 31,54, 25, and 37. and Lord is right Sehwag was not even part of the series http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/averages/batting_bowling_by_team.html?id=4215;team=6;type=series

Kohli is good against spin but not against pace, plays away from the body.shouldnt be opening IMO

Everyone else failed.
Gunner_Mania Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 he played crucial role though as batsman. Everyone else failed. Yep..Infact as I looked at the stats its obvious only Dhoni, he & Raina contributed something meaningful with the bat in the series. My only concern is, we shouldnt be wasting a genuine talent by trying to make him do something which is not natural to him.
cowboysfan Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 i am sick of jadeja but i think he has incriminating photos of dhoni,he will never be dropped.
rohitcalls Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I say, lets drop jaddu, play kkd as keeper and let dhoni bowl.:--D Check this out :- [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JK33vA6Wx9I&feature=related]YouTube- Dhoni Bowling! Champions trophy - India vs West Indies[/ame]
Andy Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 BCCI prevents team from short break The humiliating 200-run defeat against New Zealand in the tri-series opener at Dambulla on Tuesday seems to have cost the Indian team in more ways than one. The team was to return home for a short three-day break with their next match scheduled only on August 16 but was ordered to stay back in Sri Lanka after the heavy defeat on August 10, cricketnext.com website reported. "An embarrassed Indian Cricket Board have banned a planned comfort trip home for the side after the team's Tuesday night's humiliating 200 runs defeat by New Zealand at Rangiri Stadium," the report said. The BCCI diktat came minutes after India's last man Ashish Nehra was dismissed and the side was bundled out for 88 chasing 289, the report said. There were also reports that in the aftermath of the massive defeat, a key member of the team's think tank has written a letter to BCCI secretary N Srinivasan requesting for a re-look at India's playing schedule. The letter emphasised the absence of key players from the Indian team's line-up because of injuries or breaks and as a first step wanted the upcoming home Test series against New Zealand to be pruned from three matches to two, the reports said. But neither Srinivasan nor Chief Administrative Officer Prof Ratnakar Shetty were available to confirm or deny these reports despite repeated attempts. Source
Clarke Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Good that they didn't hand out hundred lashes to every player, effin crooks.
gaurav92 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 ^You just justified your username :D Anyways my line up will be - Sehwag Karthik Kohli Yuvraj Dhoni Raina Jadeja :(( (We could as well draft in saurabh tiwary instead of this poor guy, but thats not gonna happen surely :(() Ashwin Mithun Nehra Praveen
saneindian Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 And the team manager denied this report. In the 5 day break, all that the team wanted (those who played in test series) was a 2 day breka before starting preparationg for the SL match from today onwards. But because the team has lost heavily, the media and the critics have to invent new stories to put the team down and show them as players with no national pride. Nothing new with that. Just 3 days ago when we won the 3rd test, Dhoni was the "man with the midas touch" and 3 days later he is called nikamma, having no time for the nation, destroying the team interests by being on a honeymoon and all that crap.
Karan114 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 ^ Yeah does sound a false report given the below news Sehwag and Raina head home for short break Siddarth Ravindran in Dambulla August 13, 2010 Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina have taken advantage of the leisurely format of the tri-series in Dambulla to head back to India for personal reasons. Indian team manager Ranjib Biswal said they flew out from Sri Lanka on Thursday and will return on Saturday. The Indian team has a five-day break between their opening game against New Zealand, in which they crashed to a 200-run defeat, and their next match against Sri Lanka on Monday. Both Sehwag and Raina were in the squad for the three-Test series against Sri Lanka, which ended only three days ahead of the tri-series in Dambulla. After the defeat to New Zealand, the Indian team took a day off and about half the squad took part in net sessions on Thursday and Friday. Fast bowler Ishant Sharma, who missed the tournament opener with an ankle injury, was the only member of the Test squad to train on Thursday. Another player who took part in all three Tests, Pragyan Ojha, also joined him on Friday. Siddarth Ravindran is a sub-editor at Cricinfo © ESPN EMEA Ltd. http://www.cricinfo.com/sl-tri2010/content/story/472237.html
Lord Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Dhoni n Jaddu should've also taken a break n come back.ofcourse only one of them should've gone back to Lanka
b555 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Unhappy with pitch, Mahendra Singh Dhoni walks out of practice session Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni walked out of the practice session at Dambulla in Sri Lanka. He walked out after Dinesh Karthik got hurt during a practice session due to bad pitch. Karthik is doubtful to play the next India against Sri Lanka tie due to the injury. http://www.dnaindia.com/sport/report_breaking-news-mahendra-singh-dhoni-walks-out-of-practice-session_1423285
saneindian Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 DK injured, Ishant injured, Mithun has a heat sroke, Nehra has a back problem, Munaf likely to get injured after bowling a few overs, Dhoni playing with injured fingers, Yuvraj not fully fit...wow in the WC season our cup of woes seems to be already overflowing. And then there is the CL t20 which in all likelihood will result in injuries to some of our players :banghead:
