Board President's XI v Australians at Chandigarh - Sep 25-27, 2010 - Match Thread Gambhir to lead. First test for the aussies. Last time around when they were on tour, Kohli and Sharma formed a p'ship and australia were put in deep trouble, but they managed to escape with a draw. This time around the team looks more strong. Kohli would be missing because he would be in South Africa for champions league. Should be a good game. Is neo covering it???

i dont think playing Sree in this game is a good idea.he might have 2 good games in him before he gets injured .
No he need the prcatice. We may have some genuine pacers coming through in Unadkat and Yadav, excited to see their progress Who knows maybe in 12 months time we may have 5 decent pacers to pick from

omg!!!.i just thought of the reason they have included Sree in the Board match-the idiots(dhoni included) are going to play ishant in the first test.this is a huge mistake,Ishant has regressed terribly since he played the aussies.

Rain denies Aussies practice More... Rain denies Aussies practice 2010092465162301.jpg IRONING OUT THE CHINKS: Ricky Ponting (right) discussing the finer points of his craft with batting coach Justin Langer. CHANDIGARH: The Australian cricket team was denied outdoor practice for a second successive day on Thursday as it prepares for the upcoming Test series against India. Ricky Ponting's outfit has been dogged by bad weather ever since it arrived in the northern city of Chandigarh on Tuesday evening at the start of a five-week tour. The Australians are due to play a three-day match against a Board President's XI from Saturday to tune up for the first Test in the neighbouring town of Mohali from October 1. Even though the sun broke through for the first time in a week on Thursday, heavy overnight rain confined the tourists to an indoor training session. “The sun came out after massive rain last night. Got into the nets even if only indoors but the boys blew off some steam... good to go,” coach Tim Nielsen wrote on his Twitter page. The groundstaff at the Sector 16 stadium, the venue for the practice match, are rushing to get the field ready for play. “Even if we get bright sunshine a day before the game, we can have a good match,” curator Daljit Singh said. “The drainage system at the stadium is good and that should help.” Australian vice-captain Michael Clarke dismissed any security concerns which have plagued the Commonwealth Games starting in New Delhi on October 3. The revised Board President's XI squad: Gautam Gambhir (capt), Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara, Saurabh Tiwary, Wriddhiman Saha, Piyush Chawla, S. Sreesanth, Ashok Dinda, Jaydev Unadkat, Umesh Yadav, Abhinav Mukund, Ravindra Jadeja, Pragyan Ojha .

The last IPL match he played was in April 2010. Playing him in a test match without any practice match would hve been even more idiotic.

what if they pick ishant anyway?.i think a Sreeshanth who is short of match practice is better than the current ishant.

You are clueless. Ishant bowled beautifully in Sri Lanka with good pace and without much reward. He's a shoe-in for the final 11 and with good reasons.
I think Sree can be a game changer and he proved that against the lankans last time in India.when was ishant the game changer?.all things being equal i would pick Sree ahead of ishant(if he is healthy0.

I don't think so Vortex. Afterall, Kohli, Tiwari, Dhawan, Mithun etc were named for the fixture despite these guys being busy with their commitment with the private franchises. It is no secret among the experts, fans and even the selectors hat Praveen Kumar can'r bowl with an old ball. So in a test, when the shine wears off after say 15-20, Praveen Kumar will become absolutely useless for the next 60 overs till the new ball is taken. I don't think any team can take that big a risk. So the reason behind Praveen not being chosen had nothing to do with his commitment to franchise
disagree, the main reason for that myth is that Praveen is slow, about 125-130Ks.but then why r guys like Mithun n Munaf picked, who r similar pace:dontknow: if Praveen was that bad with the old ball,he wouldnt be averaging 23 in FC Cricket on Indian pitches.that suggests two things, either hes okay with the old ball,or way too good with the new ball, either way I'll take him.with the new ball, hes accurate n swings it both ways,if he can consistetly get top order wickets I'll be happy, spinners can take over from there not suggesting that he would've been picked here, just that he deserves a shot to prove himself, cant dismiss him as he cant do this, without even seeing him

what happened to RP singh he is not even being mentioned ' date=' it is like he has disappeared from the scene.[/quote'] The beauty of the IPL is that it means that RP Singh cannot disappear and be forgotten. However, his recent FC season was not good enough to suggest selection for any sort of Test team. This being said, the fact he got through a whole season without injury, spearheading the attack is enough to be happy enough for now.

Mithun is not even in RCB playing 11 vinay kumar paying over him , I think Mithun playing for India are done thankfully, this guy was hyped as bowler who could bowl over 140k but was struggling to cross 130.

RP singh is a quality bowler and will be back. I truly believe he is more suited to tests then limited overs stuff
He has become overweight and has lost all his pace. Doesn't seem interested in playing for India after a 900k IPL contract. Hopefully the upcoming IPL auctions will bring the value down considerably to wake up talented guys like him, Ishant, Sreesanth etc.
