Great show of temprament and patience ,some great leaves outside the off stump, didnt poke at any of those deliveries, showed good technique against short ball, but cant say much about his play against short ball play till he plays in SA

you are kidding right?.
No not at all Kidding. Gambhir's recent slump in form and Vijay's cashing in on the limited oppurtunities Puts both of them at the same place. You cannot Ignore Vijay now.

Vijay showed good temperament this test, indicating he belongs in the test team. I don't think that means he replaces Gambhir now, just means he is in the mix and will get his slot as things open up either via injuries or via retirement. As of now Raina has gotten the one slot left after Yuvraj's sacking and it definitely makes Yuvraj's return to the test team less likely for now.

A very Classy knock. When on field, his attitude looks so much like that of a professional test player. He looks like a complete test player out there. When batting, he tries to play some great look elegant shots. Enjoyed his knock. Tendulkar also kept talking to him which was great to see. A hug from him after his ton would have made him feel a lot more special. Very good knock. Very vital p'ship against Tendulkar at a crucial juncture of the game.

Lol no it doesn't .. Gambhir is going to be the automatic choice whenever he is fit.

put some icf money on it :dontknow:...if gambhir is fit for next tour' date=' he will open with sehwag...:dontknow:...how much you wanna bet ? I give you 5:1 odds ..[/quote'] :hahaha: Thats not my point. Am not selector, My point is just as Jadeja is not Good Enough for first 11. Gambhir is no more an automatic choice. Am not making any prediction here. He will get Nod ahead of Vijay no doubt for the first game. But if he fails, he will not continue to be the part of First team because of his past achievments (As it was the case till now).

Vijay reminds me of Wasim Jaffar. Looks very elegant with the bat, plays shots on both side of the wicket and has the temperament for test cricket. On the flipside, he gets caught in the crease quite often. Several times I saw him, sort of go into the back foot, crouch down to play defensive strokes. This is prolly a technical flaw in his batting. If the ball deviates a tad bit, he'd be plumb in front. Once he irons out his flaws, he will be a competent replacement for Dravid, as Vijay i think has the goods to bat in the top 3. But I expect Vijay to struggle a bit before he establishes himself as the no. 3 But good innings from him under pressure. Unlike Badrinath, who cannot scale from domestic leagues to the big league, Vijay has proved that he's got game.

vijay has some strokes of VVS and some off Dravid too. has decent temperament too. Vijay,Rahane, Raina, Rohit, Yuvi,Kohli, D.Karthik,Pujara would these guys fill in the vaccum after SRT/RD/VVS retire ?

unlike jaffer, vijay knows where his offstump is and can defend the incoming delivery.

GG is 3 times as good as Vijay.one lucky knock doesnt convince me.that test series against the saffers is still fresh in my mind.

i dont think he was that bad against the saffies. played a really nice innings of 35 in nagpur before he threw his wicket away. he is stil really new to test cricket and is getting better with every game. i dont think this was a lucky knock either, he played really well. maybe didnt deserve a hundred as hilf had him LBW on 89 but it was still a great innings and saved our bacon PS: nice to see the boys finally giving Felix Jones more carries, its about fkn time

we had the most worst sports weekend in DFW history .the rangers couldn't clinch, the cowboys continue to shoot themselves in the foot.I am glad that week is over.

all good points.he is a good prospect and nothing more right now.just look at Hughes and where his career has gone after one fatal flaw was detected by opponents.
Pessimistic talk about a promising player. The way he left those bouncers and outside off stuffs from Johnson.. rest of the young cricketers have to learn a lot from him. Johnson has enticed so many batsmen and prized their wickets by throwing the wide stuff. Dravid repeatedly get sucker punched by Johnson with that wide delivery. Vijay exceptionally negotiated that stuff. Hughes is completely devoid of technique Vijay is not. Nothing wrong with his technique. You can extend this logic and say any batsman is crap.

Just like you say one good innings cannot be considered a success you can also say one bad innings cannot be considered a failure. Is it something to do with CSK vs BRC rivalry? If so.. i leave it to you.
